Call me provincial, but is London safe?

Planning a trip south to watch the Tour de France and staying in Putney overnight. Would a T car be relatively safe parked off road in front of flats?

The risk of parking "on the street" in any part of London is bound to be increased, especially as most of us up north can afford a property with at least a drive.

I have parked my old TVR and my current Porsche just off Streatham High Street a few times and have never had any problems. I do try to find a well lit area covered by a CCTV camera, even if it's a privately owned one outside a business for example.

Ditto that and I have lived there for 2 yrs - security not generally an issue, but you do need to watch for parking issues and also d**ks who cannot park and who then drive off having smashed into your car!!

Thanks for local advice. My sisters flat has its own private parking space, so I should be safe from over zealous officals. She said its close to Richmond Park, which sounds like a green and leafy suburb - no doubt full of Chelsea tractors though, just like Harrogate

Hi I live just down the A3 from Putney and yes it is close to Richmond Park which is a really nice place apart from the 20mph speed limit. Your car should be fine in Putney I've left the cerb there a few times with no problems.

I wouldn't worry much about parking her in London (traffic wardens aside!). As far as I can tell, the chavs are only thinking about hot hatches, the more serious crims want Scoobies or Evos, and everyone thinks a TVR will break down before they get any distance!

Think I'd worry more about broken windows if you leave anything that looks valuable in her.

That said, don't ask for it - lock her, and use a steering lock if you have one.
