'Tis a sad day. Sold my 996 C2 which I had owned for the last 10 months. On the face of it, I lost only £800 through depreciation (so hopefully anyone looking for one won't be put off by all the threads regarding 996 prices!!). In reality, I also purchased the inpsection and warranty on top of the price.

During my ownership I didn't encounter a single problem. I covered 7k miles and went on a road trip through Europe covering the Gorge du Verdon, Monaco GP, St. Tropez, Lake Como, Zuffenhausen (factory tour was amazing!). Great car!

I've lived the dream! Now need to buy a house wink I sure have been bitten... I will definitely come back to Porker ownership in future - hopefully the 997 GT3 one day. For now, I'm getting to know the honda civic again.

Sorry to hear this, I sold mine a couple of months ago, and its hard to get over...

On the subject of prices, I hardly lost any on my 996 either, the only problem I experienced was the battery dying on me, but 75 quid resolved that.

Where did you get your replacement battery from, Fidgits? I'm going to need one. Cheers.

I just went to ATS Euromaster and got a Bosch one - I cant remember the number off the top of my head, but it was a 75A silver top - perfect replacement.

I think they are available from EuroCar Parts too..

I am living the dream now, took me four years to find my dream 911/930 black turbo 87 .

Lets hope I can keep it, my dream is to pass it on to my son .I only use it for weekends and car shows etc, Le mans so it keeps the running cost down a lot. I do not drink or smoke so I pushed the boat out so the speak money wise and got my dream car thanks to the wife's support without that no car for sure.
I do not want to look back on life with the thought why did I not do that or this life is to short .

996c2 was a great car. unfairly criticized IMO. Ok it wasnt the prettiest 911 ever, but many of its problems were due to its ride height. It sits to high, so the tyres dont fill the arches well and the out of the box soft springs made the car roll rather too much for my liking.
A simple 30mm drop with techart or cargraphic springs (30% uprated stiffness) dramatically transformed mine
It looked miles better and most importantly it was a blast on track days, and dare I say it, was much better and more fun to drive than my previous 993.

Whilst I appreciate the suspension changes no doubt improved things greatly on the track how did it affect road handling? On standard suspension set up in mine, on a less than smooth road, you feel every bump!

the car was no more uncomfortable on the road, and absorbed bumps almost as well. Certainly didnt bang and crash like my gt3 does. It just lowers the Centre of gravity and reduces roll enough.
I felt it was how the car should have been sold.
