Caterhams, Minis and single-seaters amongst the evening races
The races for each of the three forthcoming ‘POWERnights’ events that will take place this August have been announced by the organisers. Each event will feature easily recognisable groups of cars that will race twice at each event at either Silverstone or Donington Park.

The invitation races are NOT rounds of a championship or other series. Each race is run to a 10 minute plus 1 lap format with the second of each double-header race run in reverse finishing order to the first race results. Some races may run a pursuit-start format to equalize performance difference.
“We are pleased to announce the races that will be held at each event this August,” said POWERnights Series Director Roger Etcell. “We have received considerable interest from competitors and we have a strong line-up of cars for each of the races at Silverstone and Donington. We do still have some grid slots available for anyone wishing to join us for the inaugural POWERnights series - entry forms can be downloaded from the BRSCC website. POWERnights offers competitors a great package of testing, racing, TV coverage and prize money - all for the same amount of money or less than they’d pay to go to a general test session.”
“Ticket sales to the events have also been strong, with plenty of interest from local companies and individuals alike,” Roger Etcell continued. “With the announcement of the race content we expect this interest to increase in the next few weeks, especially when the local advertising campaign comes on stream. POWERnights is certainly making people sit up and take notice.”
Iain Brown, Managing Director British Racing and Sports Car Club (BRSCC) said: “The BRSCC is looking forward to getting behind the new POWERnights initiative with its focus on attracting a new audience, new content and younger fans.”
The first POWERnights event will be staged at Silverstone on Thursday 2nd August with the second at Donington Park on Thursday 9th August, and third at Silverstone on Thursday 30th August. Each of the events will be open to the public from 5pm following a full day of testing and qualifying. An eight race, non stop race programme will begin at 6pm, with a post race awards ceremony, paddock BBQ and entertainment open to all spectators and competitors, marshals and officials.
For Race Entry to any of the POWERnights events download the entry pack from the BRSCC website www.brscc.co.uk or contact Motion Works on 01327 856 024 or via info@powernights.com.

But... can you bring it down to Brands?
If there were racing every Friday night at Brands, along with infield parking and a spot of music, you could pack every other weekend all summer, I think.
Apart from anything else, if the intention is to bring people to motorsports events who haven't previously been tempted (I'm thinking in particular of families here) Brands "Indy" (along with Rockingham) is the ideal venue because you can see pretty much the whole circuit from anywhere you're likely to be watching from, making it easy to follow what's going on.
