Booked in with these guys in a couple of weeks' time for a limit handling course. Has anyone had any experience of their courses?

Thanks

Hi guys, just thought I would let you know I did the 3 hour (one to one) 'Caterham Drift Training' course at millbrook last Sunday with Colin from CAT Driver Training, I had previously done the road/track course with Colin in the Subaru but believe me
this was something completely different, so close to the tarmac you feel part of the road and the car.
Just when we were going to start a circuit on the track the heavens just opened up.
We waited a few minutes to see if the rain would cease.
It left off a bit and Colin took me round the track to show me how the cat handled. This is no slouch!
I then took her round the track to get a feel for it.
The weather is now fine and we proceed to the 'Steering Pad'.
Colin's knowledge of the cat's mechanics and handling is extensive.
Not being a mechanic or professional driver myself Colin always impresses me in the way he explains things in a very understandable and simple manner and with him being very technically minded and with a wealth of knowledge this cannot be easy.
He allows you to progress at your own speed, taking on more challenges as and when you feel your are ready.
So back to the 'Steering Pad', Colin put out two cones so that I could try the figure of eight drift just to get the feel of the cat.
My first attempt was more like a figure of eighty eight! Had a few more goes and felt like I was getting the hang of it.
Next out came the 'J' formation and Colin showed me what he wanted me to do.
Third cone up, turn in, lots of power, hold the drift by using power and steering etc.
The first few times I was dizzy from spinning her out, but then Colin in his usual manner gave me plenty of encouragement and gave me the low down on what went wrong.
So we try again and this time it's much, much better.
The next challenge was driving in a circle upto grip limit on the 'Steering Pad' and then starting the drift.
This was much harder but eventually I got there with a lot of advice and knowhow from Colin.
I have never drifted before(well not on purpose) and the one thing that you need to overcome is the natural instinct to stop the drift.
Drifting is not as easy as it looks but once you get the cat drifting in a circle it's smiles all roundsmile!!!!! and considering that I am over 60 (going on 16) that is quite an accomplishment.
I think another stint with the caterham will be on the books.

My thanks to Colin and CAT Driver Training for a fantastic 3 hours of fun and a great amount of knowhow and the weather held to.

Well I spent yesterday morning with Colin from CAT Driver Training. Highly recommended. Colin's "Vehicle Dynamics" approach to teaching certainly clicked with me - I learned so much in such a short time.

The course is organised in such a way that the time behind the wheel is maximised, interspersed with short but very informative briefings. Millbrook, where the course is held, is a superb venue, allowing a variety of exercises to be carried out in total safety. What struck me in particular was the way in which a deeper understanding of vehicle dynamics translated into tangible improvements in my driving.

CAT themselves were very professional to deal with too, suffice to say that my next session with them can't come soon enough!

Edited for grammar.
