Hopefully somebody can help me.Recently had the Offords sports exhaust conversion done ,what a sound but its now causing major problems with some of my neighbours and to be honest is a tad too loud, already had one incident with the local police regarding the noise.Has anyone got or does anyone know where i can get a standard exhaust for my 400 Chimaera to get it back to normal as Offords will try and correct it but no promises it will sound the same

Thanks Mark

If they've done the straight-through replacement, I think the only way forwards is to spend about £300 getting the likes of Powerflow to replace the centre section with a proper silencer box. Pity, cos the Chimaera with a sports exhaust sounds fantastic.

Just a suggestion but it might be worth doing a straight swap with someone who wants the Cherry Bomb conversion.

at £300 I would consider changing the whole system........ try the ACT Cherry bomb approx £450 IIRC .... no where near as noisy as the Offords one on start up and sounds a lot more refined, still giving great noise when pressing the right peddle....

I've had both, the offords one you could not stand next to the car and have a chat it was so loud.

I've got the Offords Cherries fitted and they do sound great but they are noisy on start up from cold. I bought a spare exhaust on ebay for £60 and put that in the garage incase I have any noise related problems.
Maybe a couple of trackday silencers for the neighbours benifit in the mornings??

yes theres always a lot of peeps on here that are looking to have the conversion done. Will save both parties a lot of money if you could arrange a swap with someone.

On a side note I've never had any problems or complaints from either the police or neighbours with my cherried exhaust. Can the police actually do anything?

Yes, if they deem it "louder than standard". It is quite sketchy because noise regs are not part of the MOT and if it's louder than normal, it's down to the MOT tester. I understand they like Krispy Kremes...

...... from my understanding noisey exhausts ie louder then standard are next on the hit list for the police to target.

Hi Mark, great to meet you today and thanks for the exhaust swap, sounds fantastic. Sorry I had to shoot off rather sharpish but I had to get home and let the new dog out before he tears the house to pieces!! I hope you're happy with my exhaust, at least you'll be back in favour with the neighbours and out of the eye of the law.
If you're coming down for the Goodwood revival, it would be good to meet up and I'll shout you a few beers. Thanks once again, Mike. biggrin

This worked for me - Andy (Moosehunter) wanted a quiet system; I wanted a loud one so I arranged for them to be swapped over while my car was in having some work done. Both parties then happy smile
