Gearbox replenish???
Discussion
I have recently aqcuired an ex-military signals 110 with a broken gearbox.
Having now changed the clutch and gearbox I need to fill it with fresh oil
but have not really got a clue how much and were to pour, presuming into the hole where
the shifter goes but how much do I fill it to? Is one of the side plugs a fill to
spill indicator?
Any help greatly appreciated,
Jase E

Hi Jase,
The filler/level plug is on the side of the gearbox.
Depending on what gearbox yours is, it will be a square plug sticking out proud from the side.
You will need about 3 litres of TQF (automatis transmission oil), a steady hand and keep pouring until the oil comes out of the level hole.
Good Luck!
Cheers Roy

At the base of the five speed box is a large brass nut, this houses a filter assembly, give this a wash out before filling with ATF. Don't be tempted to fill your gearbox with any other sort of oil they really don't like it . Transfer box likes OEP90 as do the diffs and swivels, unless they've been filled with special CV type grease.
