Are all coolant caps equal?
Discussion
After losing my coolant cap in a fantastically dopey way it has been replacesd with a non Ford/ST220/Noble cap. Now i seem to be losing coolant from the bottle as its splashed all over the place around the bottle. I doubt it can be a coincidence. I did read that the Noble runs higher pressure in the coolant system over a std Ford, not sure if that is right or not. So, to my question. Are all caps the same? Do they all have the safety set to the same kind of pressure? Thanks, Adam

Short anwer is NO. Not all rad caps have the same pressure rating.Edited by ajg31 on Saturday 30th June 09:00
I don't even know if the expansion tank is Mondeo related.
I suspect you'll have to buy one from the factory
to get the correct component.Oh! sorry that'll be a Noble MAIN dealer then

On a serious note I hope you don't have to wait too long for it.

F.C.
It is a standard ford part. Same for both the M400 and M12(there was the earlier clear top expansion tank on some M12's) for the black top tank, just pop along to a ford dealer either with the tank part no or just take the car.
Noble would not have spent money in having a bespoke rad cap made!!!!!!

Alot of things have the part number written on them. I replaced a coil a few weeks ago, I just quoted the number on the top of the coil to my local ford dealer and they had it in two days. It was from a Maverick.Noble would not have spent money in having a bespoke rad cap made!!!!!!
Been along to Fords today and looked at the schematic of the St2200 3l expansion bottle and cap. The bottle is different as it has only got one pipe where the Nob uses two for the turbos. I will risk using the ST220 cap tomorrow and see how i fare. Ohh i couldn't find the part number on the tank, maybe it is stamped on the bottom.
