Had a driving day yesterday as a birthday present from the better half, it was a few laps in each of the following

Jag XK 4.2 - nice 'gentlemans' tourer, too soft for a track
AMV8 - nice tight car
996 - sweet engine,nice handling
Ferrari 550 - bag of nails! Think it was the example driven rather than the car as a whole, poor throttle response, engine with missfire
G - superb! 'Enlightened' instructor who accepted I can drive a little and didn't make me change up at 4k revs like the rest and allowed the car to be driven rather than guided round the track. Lovely engine, responsive steering and great handling. Coming from an Elise which I thought was a good handling, quickish car, it showed me the other side of true performance.

I was delighted I finished the day in the G, it ended things on a high and with a big smile on my face.

I'm envious of all you owners, as I've got something to aspire to now. Just need to sell the GTi and BMW, put the kids on Ebay and get myself in one!

My instructor in the G was of a more 'generous nature' than the others so didn't tell me when to change, just let me drive. It was a shortish course so didn't go much above 6k but sounded and felt glorious.
