Megaquirt octane requirement ????

I'm hoping to put a megasquirt system in my Chim in the near future and I've been wondering about fuel.... 
Does the Chim require 98 RON juice because of mechanical characteristics or is it down to how the ECU chip is written?
So with my super duper megasquirt, will I be able to run it on normal superplus (97) or should I stick to Optimax?

What compression does the engine run? As long as its not to crazy you should be able to run normal unleaded, with a few degrees of retarded ignition.
Then use the switchable tables feature of MS1-Extra to add a few degrees of timing back in when running the good stuff (or even normal stuff on a very cold day)
