Hi,
Having just come back from a 3000km round trip, I noticed a warning in the dash telling me to top up the oil on my 996 c4s.
This is strange since the pre-igntion oil check thing always showed the level as between the max and min, and still does...
Anyway the manual says that this kind of consumption is normal but doesn't recommend any oil to add - although it gives lots of info on vicosity and so on.
Silly question: Which oil should I use on the car, my instinct would be mobile 1.
Thanks

If the warning is in the form of a flashing low oil level gauge after a short period of time with the engine off, then it could possibly just be that all the oil hadn't been purged back into the sump .. I've been told the pumps can be slow to operate some times ...'They all do that sah'
Once you're confident that the oil level's good (check when the car is hot , and on level ground with the engine switched off) , then really you've no more worries.
