Got my first big bike
Discussion
I picked up my first big bike on Sat
tis an ex-demo Honda Hornet (with 70 miles on the clock when I picked it up, now 125)
The hornet and the 125cc bike I was on previously are worlds apart, it is just a far nicer ride all round.
I've been taking it easy over the weekend though, as the rain never seemed to stop for too long.
I'm going to book a bikesafe day when i get back from holiday in a couple of weeks, and onwards to IAM / RoSPA when I get time
A pic of my new steed:

the pic was just quick snap before I went out to ride it and I haven't bothered adjusting it.
the colour in the pic really doesn't do it justice, it looks far nicer in the flesh

I really like the look of these new hornets. I think it's a strong contender for my next bike, probably early next year. Let us know how you get on with it.
As it hasn't had it's first service I have yet to take it over 6000 rpm, (the first service being at 600 miles, I've now covered 150)I prefer the new hornets looks to the old hornet as well, all i need to do now is get the hugger fitted and I'm pretty much all set

Oh and the reason I got it ex-demo with such low mileage was (what I was told at any rate) that the demo bikes are replaced every 3 months or so regardless of how many miles they have actually covered.
http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/hondadealer/BIKES... is the link for the used bikes list. The bike wasn't at my local dealers, but they got it in for me from the branch where the bike was located, which was nice of them.

This bike is a bit of a grower. As an old-skool Hornet owner (16 inch front wheel) the styling came as a bit of a shock - in particular the lower exhaust can, a move away from the traditional high-level can found on previous generations.
That said, its starting to grow on me, though I'm still not keen on all the cat pipework underneath, I'm sure there could have been a better way of doing that! If I were you, a belly pan would be first on my upgrade list!

I may seem a bit daft asking this, but a belly pan is basically a sheet of metal that would sit under the exhaust (on my bike) isn't it?Where would I go looking for a belly pan for the hornet (I had a quick search on Google, but couldn't find anything for the 2007 Hornet)
Hello mate.
A belly pan will usually be a plastic, I'm not sure the aftermarket has made one for the new Hooner yet though. Have you checked out the Honda parts catalogue? I seem to remember that Honda Italy have designed a load of add-ons to go on the bikes for Hornet Cup races, and a belly pan is one of the things they've done.
Best thing to do is google Hornets Nest and get over there - its the UK owners club website, they're an eclectic bunch but very helpful and welcoming!

I think on my accessory list (in order of priority) are;
belly pan (above)
hugger (Honda accessory)
Leather tank cover

before I get all this though, I think the next upgrade will be my lid.....as I'm still using a cheapo one, which leaks inside the visor when it's raining.

I have a Powerbronze on my 98. Be aware that pic is not a Hornet though - have you seen the actual one on a 07 Hornet?
ETA: Just found some links for you
Ermax stuff including belly pan, not sure on its looks though!

I'm getting the alarm and Honda hugger fitted this weekend as well as its first service
(Looking at that price I might cancel the order on the Honda Hugger, anyone got any pics of the Honda version?)I quite like the stock look of the bike tbh, and some of those parts just aren't pretty to say the least......I think I'm going to stick with the flyshield (just so I can slap a PH sticker on there at some point
