Because they have 6 months to lay the papers, and have a large workload - hence 5 months.

Its so annoying having an unroadworthy vehicle isnt it?

and the cheek of the law dragging their heels?

I suggest you complain - ask for a prosecution free card or similar for any further offence you may commit

Don't expect ANY sympathy from THEM - they can't be bargained with etc. I was done for having an unroadworthy vehicle - the fact the car was only 2 months old and the unroadworthyness was due to the car having just been vandalised made no difference. Car unroadworthy - you get done. Simple as that, no excuses or mitigating circumstances. (The people at the MOT place where the repairs were inspected were surprised that I was put on for it, but that's the way it is.)

What about cracked/warped sidewalls, or using crossply on one side only, or under-inflated, or sticking out beyond the bodywork, or being the wrong size.......

So the five things that were wrong with your motor were.
1 A faulty tyre.
2 A side light bulb out.
3 A brake light out.
4 A cracked windscreen.
5 A faulty spare tyre.

Unless they all happened at the same time (unlikely) you appear to be the sort of driver coppers are paid to find and get off our roads, you might have fixed other faults on your car but you have to admit it looks like you can't be arsed.
Have you thought of emigrating to Malta, you would be "Safe driver of the year" over there. hehe

You may have been better buying a tyre and going to the MOT centre
