What sort of price would you expect to pay for a brand new 0 miles T350c, I came across one in a dealership on saturday in a fantastic exterior/interior spec, the dealer informed me the car was built approx june 06, I was kinda hoping he would knock something off list Ie a good few grand only to be told that I would have to pay the full list price of £42.5k, and thats without a p/ex, that's way into sag territory as far as im concerned, does anyone know of any new/nearly new T350/sag's hanging around dealers yet not advertised(as this one wasn't) for some strange reason, it certainly makes the couple of 05 T350's that have sold for 25-26k with sub 8k miles on the clock look like extremely good value, still can't decide between sag and 350 might end up having to draw straws to make a decision.

That is not a good deal imho.

When I bought the Tamora in September 06 I got somewhere in the region of £5K off it.

Bearing in mind that the original list price included a full 3 year TVR warranty, which is now effectively useless (unless somebody can please prove otherwise) i would be looking for the dealer to either add 3 years worth of independant equivalent warranty, or knock off that price off the cost. Say 3 years worth of £1,500 pa as a minimum? Can you get a favourable trade in offer to compensate?

Not withstanding the above, how much do you want the car, and what else would can you buy new for the same money? Used Sag, or brand new, still in the wrapper T350...... scratchchin

I'd be looking for at least 5k off a 'brand new' T350. No warranty. No factory backup. Some parts hard to get. The dealer will have 5-7k margin in the car. Give them your bid, tell them how long its valid for and walk away. They may call.

Incidentally, some dealers may be owed money by the old TVR, so this plus the cost of the car in their showroom may (I mean MAY) mean they're trying to get their 'TVR' money back. All IMHO.

Just as an guideline - I paid 39,995 for a T350 Targa when the official price was 42k back in 2004.

Edited to say: If you're trading in that Griffith they should be nice to you if they're not they're iriots. Anyone knows a good Griff sells itself.

Have to agree with the general concensous that paying full list on a T350 is not good business, in fact, I'd say it was crazy. You could find a superb 2005 car which would have the benefit of the niggles being ironed out by someone else (remember there is no factory to go crying to now) for under £30k. I've just bought a Sag for a lot less than that after a long debate over whether to go for a T350. To early to give a decent report yet as I've only had it a day!!!

A dealer will have around 2k in the new car. If he's had it since June 06, he's had that money laid out since then or being paying interest on the money. I would suggest 40K is a good shout in a market where prices are firming and good cars for sale are hard to find - caveat? I would like two years full warranty (which I think is realistic, given that the 3 tear warranty was limited in years 2 and 3).

It is down to how much you want it, and would you rather have new over used?smile

Thats all a dealer can do with any TVR at a price over £40k at the moment.
Less the VAT thats £35744.68 Dealer Margin £2500- £5000 net.
Depreciation Year one £10000 - £15000

This is why TVR wasnt selling cars when in business. No one in their right mind would be changing cars every two years at this kind of depreciation.Which is needed to maintain production.

Seeing as you have no warranty, which made up for some of the depreciation when it was provided at initial purchase, your best bet is a well sorted 2005 car with Nitrons and a quick dff, or set £2500 aside for doing it and deduct it from the sale price. We all know when the last cars were built so dont kid yourselves on year of registration.

Yup. The dealer is an idiot. He's trouble is that he will probably have to wait a long time to find someone more stupid than him to meet his price.

Unregistered or not it is a £30K car absolute tops.

TVRs depreciate 10 - 15K per year, dealers have huge margins and no 40K + TVRs are selling at the moment.

What nonsense. You guys need to look at replumbing your exhausts - sounds like too many fumes in the cabin to me.rolleyes

come on guys lets get back into the real world please...its worth an awful lot more than 30k.Im sure there is a genuine case for a reasonable discount giving the present circumstances...but to suggest its worth just 30k (IMO) is a little unrealistic to say the least..whatever the dealer margins are

- I bought a brand new £43k T350T in August 05 for a discounted £40k (showroom cancelled order)
- Peninsula showed me the invoice of what they paid for it from TVR - £33.5k including the VAT.
- After 10 months I was getting p/x values of between £25k-£30k. (£25k tops for a cash purchase)
- Today similar age cars are being underwritten for well below £18k!

Most people on this forum seem to have their head screwed on, but there are still one or two people who are still living in cloud cukoo land when it comes to prices.

With no 3yr warranty, no parts, and no company, a 'new' T350 is worth £30k absolute tops. The fact the dealer isn't advertising the car proves this. A car that has been publically hanging around in stock for a long time is going to be hard to shift - just ask DM and their Yellow Sagaris!

I dont dispute what you say.......ok, I do. More like I dont undertsand it. Why would anyone volenteer to give a deaaler so much profit, and why would a dealer advise the punter what the profit was?

Many people on this forum seem to share the same chipped opinion as you have - in your case, after being shafted as a consequence of needing to sell as I recall. There are however several peolpe who have a more reaslistic view based upon more than a random selection of 1.

One of these folk I belive you refer too in relation to cukoos, has just sold a 6 month old Sagaris and lost less that half the lower figure for 1 years depreciation mentioned by folk who profess to know the TVR market.

A new T350 is a bargain at 30K if the spec is right and it is not a 2003/4 car thats been stood around for an age. A "personal" spec car has liability written all over it.

All in my humble opinion of course.....

I've made this point before but I will make it again. The depreciation factor is not exclusive to TVR. P/Ex values are always an insulting kick in the teeth whether you are trading a TVR, a Porsche or just about anything, especially when talking about a figure to underwrite a car! I was offered £30k as an underwritten trade-in figure on a 911 against a Sag. I eventually sold to a Porsche specialist for £36k. I lost £10k in 15 months on a Land Rover Disco 3 (well, the company did!) and that was a private sale; it would have been more like £14k if I had just gone to a dealer and asked to have it taken off my hands.

Basically, if a seller is desperate to sell any specialist car and goes to a trader for a price then it will be very poor. I was talking to a chap a few months ago with an absolutely immaculate 1988 Range Rover Vogue - owned from new, FSH, 70k miles, a fabulous example. He was offered £2500 trade-in from a LR dealer against a new one. He sold it privately a month later to an enthusiast who wanted an immaculate example for £9000. A car is worth what someone will pay for it. Its just a case of how long you can afford to wait!

It's actually worth nothing until someone buys it wink There are obviously a fair few loonies in this country but noone in their right mind would pay anywhere near £40K for the car.

At £30K you are taking a reasonable punt on a new toy which will still be only worth £20K in a years time if you needed to sell it.

As great as it is, it is left over stock from a defunct company.

The company selling it is almost certainly holding the price up so as not to damage the prices of their older, second hand stock on the forecourt. I.e. it is a lost leader and if some mentalist turns up and coughs up then happy days.

I would keep in touch - having the car in stock is costing him money, and sooner or later he will fold and just want to get rid of it to replace it with something he can sell.

Think about what you are willing to pay given the potential pitfalls of ownership and offer him that. Do not be swayed by the opinion of others if you really want it!
