Hello again from Johnniem. I seem to be a semi-permanent fixture here of late. Apologies for that! Anyway, this'll be a quick one (oooo eeerrr missus!) I am sure. Who makes the ignition key for the 450 Chimaera? (R reg, just in case you need to ask). PM me if it is info that shouldn't be in open forum just in case some of the not-so-nice types are watching and think they can drive the car away with an Austin Metro key! Lord 'elp us!

As above.... It's a Vauxhall lock and key profile, but if it's a later key with the remote fob attached, you may need to speak to a TVR dealer to get one cut and the remote programmed. If the fob is a seperate unit from the key, you'll get a Vauxhall key profile cut easily.

The entire steering column, switchgear and cowling are from the Mk. II Cavalier (1988 - 1995). You may struggle to get a Vauxhall dealer to cut one for you with them sending it away to some centralised service or other. Plus they might want the car's chassis number (which wouldn't help at all!). The good news is that most High Street key cutters can copy an existing key (but probably wouldn't be able to cut one from the code).

Tuscan key blanks are available. This is the same Vauxhall key but with the Meta alarm controller built into the top. If you have an original key and Meta controller, they can be combined into one unit that looks identical to the Tuscan key. Details are on The Chimaera Pages.

Yes, sorry, Mk. III Cavalier. It's also identical to the Calibra.

Just a word of warning - I had several visits to two different high street keycutters.
Eventually parking the Chim right outside the front door (illegally!) of the 2nd shop, cos they just couldn't cut it!
Four "blades" and at least 15 "cuts" later I went back to the first chap who was the better of the two, with a donated blank (had collected refunds from each), and he managed to cut me a key that only works one way up!

It was discussed here: Replacement Keys

I had the same problem getting a copy cut as my original was quite worn ('95 with no remote). In the end I went to Vauxhall dealer with my cars handbook which had the key number written in it (not the one stamped into the key), explained the problem and they got copies for me. They have to speak to a central place that handles keys. Wasn't that expensive and they arrived the next day.

Also got to give the girl behind the desk a ride (in the Chim!!)
