Hi Guys,

I bought myself a new toy

I need to refurb the front brakes, can someone check their haynes manual and let me know the torque settings for bolting the calipers back onto the bike (forks)

What do you think of my new beast? smile

Hi mate,

Firstly, lovely bike, I still miss mine for some sentimental reason smile Fantastic front end. Best advice I can give is to download a setup guide from the performance bikes website and set the bike up according to that - I did (apart from the bit about pulling the forks through the yokes, I never got round to it) and it transformed the bike. Also, putting Michelin Pilot Powers on made a huge difference to the turn in - mucho recommended.

As for the Haynes manual - sorry but I sold it on ebay as soon as I sold the bike frown I had my calipers off and on dozens of times though and the only advice I can give is to hold the wrench up near the head (ie, not at the end as it gives too much leverage) and just do them up tight! Also, always use loctite as I had a rear caliper bolt come astray - the caliper swung around so that it was rubbing on the disk (at 150mph) and then when I went for the brake (after slowing to 25mph-ish thankfully!) it snapped the one remaining mount and flew off on it's braided line and came to rest between the hugger and exhaust! If not for the hugger it could potentially have gone in the wheel which would have been messy!

Shameless shot of mine frown

Cost me a fortune to get it looking like that, then I went and traded it in - WITH all the mods on it!

Andy,

Try finding the owners forum on the 'net and you will likely find a downloadable workshop manual.

Steve.

Thanks guys - She needs some serious cleaning once you get a little closer to her (My bike, not the bird in Mad Daves pics)

I've found a link to a workshop manual that'll do for now before I get a Haynes/Clymer type manual.

Cheers smile

Gorgeous bike dude, I had one in black, it was stunning. I had on the obligatory dark screen, wavy disks and braided lines, full Akropovic, smaller indicators, a rear light with white lens and blacked out sides, trimmed the numberplate thing and removed the numberplate light (so i could raise up the plate)

It was gorgeous, went well, sounded amazing..... I loved it so...
until the little druggie across the road reversed off his drive and over my bike, I was heart broken, his insurance paid for damage.

I rode it for few weeks, but then caught the back wheel on a plastic bottle, causing an embarassing high side in front of 60 work mates.

Had it fixed (own pocket this time) but she never felt the same again and it always felt like it was trying to kill me. (bad back tyre)

So i arranged to trade it in for a zx9r c2, and on the way over to swap bikes, violent storm came up, which managed to rip the side panel, tearing at where it meets the top fairing, snapping it in half causing it to fold down under the bike on the left side...... on a left hand bend!!!

Luckily there was a junction to the right and no traffic and i was able to skim the bike into a side street, where i kicked shiiit out of the fairing, rode it over to the bike shop and started with the words 'I think we may need to renegotiate'

I rode home on my lovely zx9r, but i do miss the 7r.. so much so that my bike now has custom fairing and zx7r headlights, and ive changed the geometry of it so that it feels front heavy more like my black beastie.

Of course, the extra BHP is kinda fun too biggrin
