Want to get it on to a track BUT - what sort of noise levels do people think a standard system (with Kat) will do ? Remember some tracks are looking at 98 Db thingys , so does anyone have any experience of this ?

This is being discussed on Blatchat.com at the moment in Tech Talk.

But you will struggle on Donnington or Goodwood. My R300 engine on rollers and a 7" Race can has been ok everywhere else. Its more induction noise with my car - No air box, just foam filter

I have a SLR and didnt have any problems at Donnington. Have just used the Booka track noise meter and got 95db at idle - 102db at 6K and 106db at 7K.

Hope that helps!

Dony's limit is 100db IIRC - 98 sometimes....106 db won't get you on any circuit I'd have thought....I'd say you were lucky...

Sorry - those figures were taken at .5meter away from the car. They're not drive past! Also with Donnington I think the wind directuion helps and not gunning out of the last corner as well wink

I borrowed a noise meter from bookatrack - cost £9 including postage. Give them a go.

Also went to Sneterton last night and declared the red line at 7K revs so had to do a static noise test at 4500 revs. Reading was 92Dba. I do have my cat fitted as well.
