I’ve seen some Ultima engines here at Piston Head but has anyone seen World Products new LS7 and C5R replacement Warhawk engine block?

http://www.worldcastings.com/catalog/15.pdf

And if you had a set a cylinder heads like these

http://www.worldcastings.com/catalog/23.pdf

I imagine that all you would need to top it is a Lysholm twin screw super charger with multiport fuel injection.

And just think you would never have to worry about finding LS engine mounts either, because the World has included the old Chevy mounting location. I bet LuckyP will have package prices by the end of the week. Just be sure the dBs of the Lysholm super charger don’t exceed 97dB’s otherwise you’ll have to lift when you pass the meter.

these engines look very nice! and you will beable to ge them with SBC mounts rather than the LS ones. also its posable to take these motors out to 481 cubic inch (7.9ltr)! smile

as Jeff siad thought, dont think they are avaliable yet. also not sure how they will do as GM has a iron LSX comoing out that is for racing. it will also take BIG power and its what alot of the US racers are looking to invest in. mightmake the Warhawk a little unneeded. frown

thanks Chris.

...... the lightweight of the Ultima makes all of these unneeded.

I saw the EBay advertisement also which led me to World’s homepage. This maybe the most expensive solution I’ve seen to mounting an LSx engine in an Ultima, although Crafty’s previous thread concerning LS2 mounts appears to have been costly. Crafty I know your pain. Sorry about the misfortune and glad it worked out for you. Thank you for sharing!

As a new guy I have to ask is the LS7 enough. From Crafty’s last post it drew the conclusion that, if I’m not wrong about your motor, that 500hp is enough. From jschwartsz’s post I think he is still scheming for more power. So is the $4K for the Warhawk worth it?

I do believe the Lysholm twin screw super charger is over kill, but I think everyone here will agree that if you’ve seen an offshore race boats or drag racer run you one can’t help but want one. I suppose a cast iron block with its extra weight would be a cheaper solution. But I still believe that time and time again good iron liners and an aluminum block is the right choice. What does everyone think?

I think it's strong because it's thick and that means heavy. As said iron is also heavy but it'll be cheaper. I do like the 6 bolt head fixing though. It needs to be strong and lighter imo and for this reason I'll stick with darton blocks.

My first drive in an Ultima was on the 2006 Power Tour with Jeff Schwartz. I took over at 9pm as I was still on Hong Kong time, ended up driving a 17 hour stint.... nice first drive. At the time it was running a 500hp LS6, with 30,000miles on it.

Mine has a Magnacharged LS2, stock other than the Magnacharger and a tune. With stock cast iron vette manifolds and stock 2.5" vette cats it pulled 580hp on an engine dyno.

After driving both, I think that the package I have is perfect as it is somewhere between silly and ridiculous. I maintain that anyone who talks about more than 600hp needs to go for a ride/drive in a 600hp Ultima.... that would put an end to the speculation.

boosted, are you going to try one of GMs LSx blocks?? they to come with 6 bolt heads and GM will be realeasing the heads soon i think. alternatively there is a company (i think ET heads) that are doing a 6 bolt head to fit the GM block.

Chris.

Reading between the lines, Are you saying that there is room or need for an improvement in the handling and braking to allow even more power to be used?

The development of your car has provided many ideas that I hope to incorporate in to my build, should I get to it in the future

I'm waiting to see what comes along but recently got some good figures from modded AP heads so they along with the ET products have my attention smile

.... the only improvements that need to be made are on the nut behind the steering wheel.

Crafty I’m confident the only improvement necessary is enough room to fit both your nuts and yourself behind the wheel up front. This conversation seems just like the one I had concerning a six speed transmission right before I purchased a five speed for strength.

But back to the subject and the incredible numbers folks are getting out of a natural aspired engine these days. I’ve run across a LS7 engines with Competition cams hydraulic roller putting out 630 HP.

http://www.lingenfelter.com/LS7IDLE12MG.mpg

The video starts off a little slow but make sure your sound is on for the last half. I don’t know what to say but this is a must have sound for me. So will the Ultima take it? I’ve read the Ultima can accept up to 1,000 HP, but who is pushing the envelope - jschwartz, crafty or who knows?

I know there are greater minds than mine on the Design of these blocks, but the thicker you make a dense Or even forged piece of aluminium the more it will expand, so when someone tells me there block is alot thicker than the stock block then I tend to think have they made enough room in the design for it? and if they have will a cold block be realy loose ?? theres alot of testing that has to be done to prove a design like this....
My engineering back ground does make me question some of these alterations.... Castiron has alot less thermal expansion than Ally so doesn't require as much expansion compensation and shall we say can be made without as much testing...

Basicaly it maybe the next best thing since sliced bread, but I personaly will be sticking to GM parts on this one. They have been testing these blocks for years, and theres a reason that the C5R block is more expensive than the LS7, it's made from a more exotic combination of Alloys... is the Warhawk ??

With an Ultima I don’t suppose you need to worry about clearance for the Warhawk engine do you? Will an additional ( 9.8 – 9.24 = ) 0.56 inch in deck height be a problem with the Ultima Warhawk combo? confused
