I have my speed awareness course tomorrow and I've just realised I have to have my paper license ASWELL as my photocard. Only problem is I have no idea where it is, is there ANYTHING i can do at all?

surely they'd accept other forms of ID?

Passport, Credit/Debit cards, Bills....etc.

Ring the office, see if they will accept it, but if you have a spare, or a very old one, take that. In theory they are using it to check for convictions, but on mine it was a cursory glance.

I phoned them, tried to explain, they said without the counterpart I can't attend so I'm ed.

So that's 3 points and a fine aswell as the cost I paid for the course.

I don't get it, surely you told them you had it a few days ago but will apply for a new one? How can they punish you for that when it is obvious you are not tyring to get away with anything? They should just allow you to go on teh course when your new license comes through if they want to be such dicks about ID.

as you say...s.

I know, I don't get what the big deal is. They can have my passport, my photocard license, utility bills etc. to prove I'm who I am. I can even get the DVLA to ring them up and tell them I don't have any points but they're not having any of it.

I had the counterpart not long ago but it's gotten lost when I moved house. This is really unfair, and now I'm out of pocket almost £200 and 3 points on my license just because I can't find this shitty bit of paper.

Why do we even have TWO parts to our license? What's the point? So we can lose one and have to pay for a replacement?

Twaaats.

don't pay for a replacement just change your address to the parents house then change back to your own address, thats what i did worked a traet and only cast me 2 trips to the post box!!! and i agree the point of the photo card was so it could be scanned by whichever authority so no need for counterpart, but they realised that the could make more money!
i would still turn up and say you lost it whilst traveling too fast in your car to the course as it was on your dash-board!! (only joking i thought it was quite funny but thats my own sad humor!!!)

If they only glance at it anyway, an unscrupulous individual may just scan in a friend's counterpart, change the necessary details and print it out.... evil

I can't see how they would get you for perverting the course of justice or anything, since there's currently no case proceeding against you.

Tell them you stopped for a yummy egg mcmuffin and when you popped to the loo, some low life helped themselves to the folder that you left on the table. Maybe best to advise the 5* burger flipper of the incident, but not bother with the plod as it would have made you late, and you would have had to speed to ge there on time!

So if he's rumbled, he just grabs it back, tears it up and says "What forged instrument?" wink
