Hi again,

another problem has arisen where my computer on my gti does not read the MGP. Everything else works fine. Was wondering what the likely problems are and how to correct the problem, preferably without changing the dials as i want to keep my mileage correct?

Cheers chaps

Hi Craig,

Sorry can't offer any help with this as we have exactly the same problem with ours at the moment! It reads 10mpg when it's doing in the 30's!! All other readings seem to work fine.
Let me know if you have any joy and i'll do the same.

Cheers

If it makes you feel less alone mine averages 21-24mpg when its doing 32-38...

I thought it might have somehow switched to US mpg?

MY oil temp doesn't work either- fine at low revs but gives a null reading above 2.5/3K or so revs....

The MFA runs by a system of vacuum pipes, so it could be that one of the pipes is leaking giving the inaccurate reading.
Mine also reads about 10 / 11 all the time, havent been able to locate the problem as there are so many pipes it could be. As long as your getting the miles from the tank you expect you would then I wouldnt worry about it.

The oil temp will no doubt be a faulty oil temp sender, its the little thing that bolts into the top of the oil filter housing with a wire going through the bulk head, its easy to spot - Id say get a new one of these or check its at least connected.

Cool cheers,

I might have it checked. It's bugging the hell out of me! I would love to know exactly how much it is drinking and as i am trying to make her a minter it would be a dreammif everything worked properly.

We've just discovered the problem with our MPG reading! We have found a vaccum pipe had come away from the back of the dash, easy to fix just by re attaching it but it's a dash out job!!

Hope you've sorted yours more easily.

Yeah, poop MPG reading is either that hose falling off or having a hole in it.
