Is he winging or just stating the obvious? As he says in that article, McLaren wanted Alonso to win in Spain and want Hamilton to win in Britain. Seems like perfectly sensible business to me - maximise the exposure for the sponsors. As Ron Dennis has said, I'm pretty sure he doesn't care who wins at the other races, as long as it's a McLaren and preferable a 1-2.

As you said I think Ron Dennis would just want a McLaren 1-2. It does seem to be increasingly frequent line from Alonso, when things don't go his way. Furthermore if he continues to take this stance, the media backlash will only get worse for him.As usual the media are trying to stir up tensions

I find it amusing that Alonso won't stop whining! He has to face the truth that his team mate is young and British and...a better racing driver than he is!
Senna recognised Schumacher's talent early on, so why can't Alonso?

Everytime this "rift" has been put to the drivers themselves (or RD) they've said there is no rift, it's all chinese whispers. This article is more of that - journalists interpreting Alonso's words as complaint because they need and "angle".

He is stating the obvious but he must get over the fact that he is driving for a British/German team with a British driver, I am sure DC had the same sort of problems with Damon Hill and Williams, he has the Hill name so he must win rather than a young Scot? Maybe I dunno?Heebeegeetee said:

Sure, he's struggling, and like any racing driver thats being beaten by his teammate, he's not happy about it - but i think there are far too many people trying to make him out to be worse than he is...

Lewis Hamilton says he would quit McLaren if he ever felt the team were favouring team-mate Fernando Alonso.
The Englishman, five races into a stunning debut season, said if he was given lower priority in a team he "wouldn't be there for much longer".
McLaren have insisted the two drivers have equal status despite asking Hamilton not to challenge Alonso for victory in Monaco last month.
Hamilton said McLaren were "not biased" and were "very level and very equal".
He insists the team is fully supportive of him but warned two-time world champion Alonso he is closing the gap between them.
"Every week when I match the times, if not do better, I'm showing I've got the ability to be a champion, or at least that I deserve to be equal," Hamilton added.
"I've bonded with the guys so well, they want me to win as much I want to win for them."
The 22-year-old has made a sensational impact in his first season in Formula One, and although he has not yet won a race, he is level on points with Alonso at the top of the standings after five rounds of the championship.

I really liked that. Usually drivers will say something rather dull such as "we have a strategy". Great, thanks for the insight. But for LH to say what he's actually planning, it makes him a far more interesting, likeable and down to earth driver than most of the others. All credit to him for trying.loneranger said:

How do you know he's a moaning etc etc? When did you speak to him? Please, please don't tell me you know 'cos you read the 'papers.Should he actually 'like' being beaten by a team mate then? Aren't the others also bothered by the fact that they're all paid millions and are being beaten by a rookie?
If you think a racer (a proper one, I mean) isn't going to kick and stamp and bawl and shout when things aren't going his way, then you live in cloud cuckoo land, my friend.
