Sell the R6 privately. You'll always lose out on a p/x.

Did they look at the bike, or are you still doing deals over the phone??
If so how have you descibed it to them?

All done over the phone. I've told them how it is(!!) that's it needs a couple of hundred quid spent on it to be in MINT condition. Just spoke to another branch who said they could beat it....but I doubt by very much.

P!ssed off now!!

I wouldn't be too upset - you still own a cracking bike and you're nearly 5K better off (probably more cos you'd have thrown a load at the GSX-R wouldn't you?!). Think of all the track days you could buy with that dosh!!

Typical dealers trying it on.
I had to dispose of an Aprilia Falco as a PX a few years ago and I basically had to accept the trade in value as they aren't exactly a popular bike.

BTW I only payed 3k in Feb for my CBR600F 53 plater with 5kmiles which was a bargin, but then that was mates rates sold as seen.
I somehow think your R6 would be worth a lot more privately. Assuming as you are keeping it maybe you can be one of the few owners to see 30k miles plus out of an R6? My old R6 was sold on at 23k miles but then it took 7.5years to reach it, 8k of which was done by me commuting on it for 1.5years

That is an especially crap deal. My sister got nearly that for a 2001 R6 with similar miles (but less battle scars) in the Autumn.

Is it clear of finance? If so, chuck it on Ebay.

2006 R6s start at 5k and go on to 6k for a low mileage minter in the bike trader. I don't know what the dealer spread between a trade-in price and retail price is - but say that's a grand. How much is the high mileage going to cost you on top of that a few hundred quid? If you say 500 off for the miles, you're looking at a 3.5k trade in minimum, maybe 4k. I'd ask the stealer to explain themselves in plain english as to why they're offering you that little. Sure they're a business, but they're taking the mick on a grand scale.

Steve.

And if I were the dealer I'd say 'You don't have to accept it, you want a good price then sell privately'.

Fwiw Chilli I part-exed my 2000 748 last year with 12k miles in terrible condition and got 3.5k for it (which was a great deal). You'd definitely get 1k more on ebay I reckon if you want to sell privately.

I agree mate - it's pushy, but since Chilli already doesn't like the deal, there's not much to lose.

True, I only said that as in my experience dealers tend to know if they want something, and if not try and take the piss. I'd probably be the same in their shoes!

Cheers gents....Might have to just buy one outright, and ebay the R6. If I could afford to keep both, I would... (but gotta get me a car!)

Cheers.
