Not only has this person decided to call their 350i a 390i because it's had a new engine, but it's also got the graphics 400SEI on the boot, and 400SE on the side!!

Aaaarrrrggghhhh! Why do people do it?

Rich.

Bit cheeky that. Mines got a similar conversion but I'd never be so brave to call it a 400. I thought all mk.2 350s have their exhausts on the right hand side...?

Not sure if it is a series 2. It hasn't got the S2 mirrors.

I'd just assumed from the rear lights that it was a mk.2, but see what you mean about mirrors.

I had one of these , its a series 1 1/2 has revised lights but still retains the trailing arm suspension.

They can call it anything they like as long as they don't try to pass it off as a 390SE. There's a tale on Wedgepages of a guy who bought a car badged 390SE that turned out to be a box-stock 350. OK, so we know the differences and I guess he didn't do his homework: at least the Ebay car is being honest and 'in the spirit'. I'd be more miffed if he'd put, say, a Renault V6 in it. The stickers I agree on: although to be fair my 390 has 400SE kickplates because at the time they were fitted (not by me) you couldn't get 390 ones. Then again, my car IS a 400 now...

It is a series 1 1/2 - like mine it has trailing arm suspension, series 1 interior, series 2 body and a load of series 1 1/2 oddities

Mine has a seac spoiler on the back - but I haven't stuck a 350 SEAC badge on it (yet)
