Just got this from McLaren...

STATEMENT
Woking, United Kingdom, 3rd July 2007: McLaren became aware on the 3rd July 2007 that a senior member of its technical organisation was the subject of a Ferrari investigation regarding the receipt of technical information. The team has learnt that this individual had personally received a package of technical information from a Ferrari employee at the end of April.
Whilst McLaren has no involvement in the matter and condemns such actions it will fully co-operate with any investigation. The individual has in the meanwhile been suspended by the company pending a full and proper investigation of the matter.
No further comment will be made.
Well when this senior McLaren person received this secret donkey information it was not for light reading. So the knowledge was used within McLaren to give them competetive advantage. Presumably what we saw in Spain/Monaco/North America.
It will be interesting to see if Mclaren have to remove or have already removed features resulting from this cheating.
It will be interesting to see what the FIA do. As in cancelling some McLaren race results.
Takes the shine off Hamilton that his success comes from cheating.
This could have some very interesting repercussions at Silverstone this weekend. Maybe a BMW 3/4 to a donkey 1/2?
Massa at 20 to 1 to be world champion (last week) now looks like an incredibly good bet.
What is Alonso going to do now?

surely this is all nonsense - sending packages directly to Mclaren - did it have a TOP SECRET Sticker on it as well ?!
great season so far !!
Not to McLaren, to the employee from the employee "The team has learnt that this individual had personally received a package of technical information from a Ferrari employee at the end of April."great season so far !!
But probably marked "Please send cash by return"
Sending packages of info?
Yeah, well, I'd do that to. With false info, obviously.
Is that cheating?
I think not.
If, however, the info was genuine & indicated some cheating on behalf of Ferrari, for example, then I think it should be brought out into the light of day ASAP.
Looks like Mr Stepney has something to say doesn't it?

Perhaps following due process first and waiting for the outcome may be more advisable? Or do you have all the evidence? It will be interesting to see if Mclaren have to remove or have already removed features resulting from this cheating.

loneranger doesn't need any more info. He knows more than anyone involved in the situation
To suggest that information received by one person at the end of April has been directly used to make the cars faster is laughable.
I suspect there is a hell of a lot more to this story than we know about now.

He may be getting his info from the Bild (Germany's answer to The Sun). According to an article written by no less than 3 Bild reporters Stepney gave info to McLaren & Coughlin has been sacked.
You'll have to look carefully for the article though, it gets less precedence on their web page than the link to the paper's sex toy sales site.
