Forza 2 Car Tuning Tips...

I was thinking, with so many knowledgeable people on here, it might be handy if people can share their car tuning skills with the way to improve the handling/performance of the cars..

Obviously it varies from car to car, and configuration plays a part, but surely there are some good tips to tweaking a setup so someone who hasnt a clue can improve over standard?


e.g. I know if you upgrade the brakes, you should change the brake pressure to:
110% for ABS
90% without ABS

And if you car understeers through the start of a corner, try adjusting the brake bias to 47% front.

I find that sticking an extra couple of PSI in the tyres generally improves grip.

I've found adjusting the spoilers (only if you have added them of course or its a race car) helps. The extra grip by increasing the angle does slow you down a tad but expecially on shorter tracks it seems to improve my laptimes if you take advantage of extra grip in the bends.

It can also let you adjust the oversteer/understeer to your liking


Another little tip that I need to look into a bit more; the super quick cars can be a little wayward on the N'ring. With old games like GPLegends it always helped to harden the springs a little to stop the car bottoming out. I didnt think the car was bottoming out on Forza but I tried it anyway....and it seemed to help, especially in the last 1/3 part of the circuit. I certainly hit the barrier less!!

i havent a clue about car set-up ,i was using the online susp calculator thingy but it makes my cars UNDERSTEER like crazy ,they all handle better on default settings

i generaly set them to
camber

castor
5.5

i set the TP's to 29psi front and rear

and leave all the spring/damping settings alone

i just cant get the buggers to turn in as quick as i'd like they generaly understeer

On the RWD cars I set the TPs at 38 front - 34 rear as a starter as most of the RWD drive cars understeer like mad - I also raise the bump and rebound rates on the fronts so the the rears are softer - same with the anri-roll bars.

On the others I raise the TPs to 36 all round.

I actually used stuff I learned from a recent real Geo session on my S2000.

a bit of toe in, especially on the rear, helps RWD stability. Front toe in can help turn in, depending on the car.

watch your tyre temperatures very carefully. If the outside of a tyre is heating up too fast it needs a couple of psi extra. If it's remaining too high, you need to increase camber.

If the inside heats up quicker than the outside, you're probably running too much camber.

Remember that if you change anything else on the car: weight suspension etc, you'll probably need to tweak everything again.

Just gift me the car with the appropriate parts and send me a message telling me how you want it to handle (eg: oversteer/understeer bias, speed/acceleration etc) and I will sort it out for you

Have done a couple of mates cars and they seem to be happy with what I did.

yeah, im off at the end of the month Though I can tell you now it wont be as good - lots of other traffic, not to mention suicidal bikers mean you drive with one eye on the mirrors and generally avoid pushing.. at least in a game if you bounce off the barrier it doesnt matter

See, thats the thing, if we all had porsche turbos we'd be out driving real cars.. most of us cant afford them though!

My 3rd trip so i know its not like any normal race track , the game just cant compare , anway , yes , probably in the rs ,im going again on the 27th,28th & 29th too if your there?

I cant afford a porsche turbo either!

wow - not a nice journey in a RS (or are you getting the ferry from Hull?)

I think the ring would be better if they limited it to bike only or car only days - i just dont think the two mix well...

Ttoally agree , they dont.

The RS is suprisingly comfortable , have you done many miles in one? im 18 stone and the seats suit me perfectly and a 300 mile trip was lovley in it. Not for softies though.

Hull indeed , 16 of us , should be emotional , so are you there?

I havent been in a RS - drove a Parr setup GT3 Clubsport - lovely car, and yeah it was comfy, it just didnt ride bumps/potholes that well.. - but then I was coming from the boggo 996 C2 (comfort spec)

I'm heading over to the continent so it seems a shame not to drop in, but it depends on a couple of things to when I'll be free to go over - you staying locally?

Oh, and do you have a link to that page that has all the public days on? I've lost it!
