hi, I am new to this site having bought a chimaera last yr. I need a new roof and some new carpets, does anyone know a good place to buy either item? I live near luton so anything in that area would be really good.

Thanks for any help kelvin

I recently had my carpets replaced through A&R Pound in Baldock - fantastic job and very sensible money. Not sure if they also will do the roof but worth asking.

Plus VAT plus carriage - still well priced at around 300 quid - the quality may not be as good as the original though - twill/double duck instead of mohair possibly. Check if the targa covering is stitched and ready to glue in place.

Colours? Well it does also say blue.

I may be wrong, but I suspect that price is just the material and screen for recovering the old panel and targa frame. You'll still need to get it fitted.

I got Offords to do mine - about £600 all in I think.

BTW http://www.autostyle.co.uk/ are good for replacement over-mats.

I've used material from BAS international (link below). It's good quality stuff but don't use their glue as it's just regular contact adhesive I believe. It's better if you can get hold of Evo-Stik Time Bond contact adhesive or it's equivalent as it allows you to re-lift the material if it's not positioned correctly the first time around. BAS supply the material for both roof sections to yourself or an upholsterer near your location that they recomend. The targa panel material I ordered was not pre-stitched but it's not that difficult to do yourself and if you speak to them they may do it for you... who knows!?!

I agree, great material, I have enough left over to re-cover again given that I used there glue not knowing it is contact adhesive and can't be re positioned once laid on the panel.

Disappointed with Renovo though I hoped their restorer would bring the hood and panel colours to a match and they haven't.

Renovo restorer can be tricky stuff. I followed the instructions properly and used the pre-treater to remove the previous water proofing on the header section. Using off cuts of both new and old mohair I worked out one coat of Renovo colour on the new mohair to two coats on the old material of the header section.

All that preperation was wasted as it turned out to be three coats on the new material to two on the old ?!?!? I've got them to just about match (if you're not too picky!!). Plus you do get a bit of a shine on the old material.

I guess the answer is, if you can afford it, get both sections done !!? spin

For a complete new hood try

http://www.donhoods.com/

They have just done my triumph vitesse excellent job. Cannot fault them I left them a bag of bits which resembled a frame and they rebuilt the lot resonable price to. I enquired for a TVR roof they do them to cannot remember the exact price though about £270. They are in birmingham.

Whatever you do, do NOT replace only one section, you'll never get them to match with Renovo or whatever.

If you're replacing the carpets (been there, done that) and need a hand I'm in East Herts.
