Is it a conscious decision that videos (eg YouTube) cannot be embedded in posts using the <object> tag? If you try, you just get the code rather than the object itself.
It was a concious decision not to allow HTML in posts. That obviously then blocks Object tags. Not too keen on introducing it as there are security implications. Simple enough to just link to the video.
