I picked it up on Friday while back in NI for a couple of days (left the 360 out here in Aachen), I got back out here again on Monday night and fired it up, and then again last night...and I do like it...
Ian, you know what I'm like as far as playing these sort of games 110%, and I'm already onto the final act of the game (5 acts total and I'm on number 5 as of midnight last night), there are loads of wee side-plots and stories that you need to do to as well as the main storyline, at the moment I've concentrated on the main story and intend to go back and do the extra side-stories later on.
There's also loads of hidden "collectibles" which will unlock more content in the game for you etc, so another incentive to keep playing it.
With my crap connection out here in Aachen it's meant I've not even tried out the online side of things yet, but through a friend I've heard that the multiplayer aspect of the game wasn't even going to be there until shortly before the release happened, as it was originally penned as a single player offline game until MS wanted some online stuff too, and as such it's suffering from a lot of lag due to lack of development work etc, but no doubt this will be sorted out in time...
I've heard people raving that it's the best thing since sliced bread, I can categorically say it's not, it's not in the same ballpark as the story mode of GoW but it's still good in it's own right, with 50 different achievements for you to achieve, and some are dependant on how you tackle different obstacles in the game too

I've never played condemned so I can't comment on that unfortunately - everytime you leave an area of the map to go to another area they have wee animations that run where you would normally get a wee "loading..." screen, that's cool for the first 5 times then you'll find yourself whapping the red skittle to get it to skip on as soon as humanly possible...

I nearly soiled myself on the first level of condemned, but then it re-used the same cheap trick throughout the rest of the game and became about as scary as Barbie's horse adventures (a real horror). There was no real suspense, just hobos jumping out and attempting to club you in the face.
Without spoiling the game for potential buyers, I wouldn't class the scary stuff as fill the bags material, but there's a few times when you're in "the dark side of the game" that the game will do some mad stuff and it can unsettle you for a second or two if you get my meaning...
Another thing to bear in mind that this game is an 18 certificate and it lives up to that rating without any problem at all - plenty of swearing, plenty of gore (you can turn this down from memory in the settings), and of course the game wouldn't be the same without your darkness ability requiring you to eat human hearts to power up

yeah, exactly the same for me - the first level or two it scares you - then you expect it...and i just have to ask WTF was that ending about!!!
Its almost as if they set up what could've been an interesting storyline, and then didnt know what to do with it so went all xfiles!I picked this up on Sat and have been playing it a lot, excellent atmosphere, great story to it and graphically very good too.
Kind of reminds me of FEAR witht he atmosphere it has, but it's kind of semi rpg in places too with wandering about NY talking to people and getting new tasks to do.
Personally I love it and think it's worth picking up, but then I do like a good dark game with a story to it.
Also possibly one of the best opening sequences to a game I've seen too, gets you involved straight away

I've completed the game now on both easy and normal settings, and am working my way through now on hard - give it a try lol, it makes normal look like a walk in the park as the distances between save points and the lack of ability to take damage without dying makes it veeeeeeeeery interesting to say the least

well, I got this last night...
pretty tough to begin with, but you really get absorbed into the storyline, unlike GoW, Prey or the like... pretty addictive too, as you want to find how the story pans out...
strangely gets easier when the darkness kicks in, and certainly adds a nice twist
a litte confusing in places, its kinda a RPG/puzzle in parts.. but overall im impressed..

What setting are you playing it on just now?
There's some key points where you need to play more coy than gung-ho especially on the later levels on hard or you've no chance of getting through them in one piece.
When you get into the yard through the gates you have the wee small shack to the right - you'll get the can of petrol in there that you need to burn the money, then you have the two shutter doors on the platform level you're up on when you exit that shack.
One of the shutter doors won't open and the other one will, go in the one that opens, work your way through around 4 or so of the refrigerated rooms (watching out for baddies in a couple of them), and then you'll come to a room eventually with benches in it too and 2 small doors as well as another big shutter (i.e. following only the big shutters will take you right back out into the yard again). If you go through one of these wee doors you'll come through a locker room and one out the other side you're in a corridor. As soon as you come out that locker room the money room is to your right and on the opposite wall
