Engine Movement, when running

How much does the engine move when comming on and off loads.

As I want to change my induction from Airflow meter and Plem. the current one is corrigated, and very flexable, but a lot of people have used solid silicone hose. but other have used a metal pipe and flexable Joiners.

As I decided to have a Ali 90 degree bend and samco blue silicone joiners.

I was wonering if I should use humped or flexible joiners.

Or does the engine not move much.

It must move because the mountings are rubber, and you put the torque through them.

On the Sprintex intallation the ''charger is on the bulkhead, and the drive belt and air hoses - mostly solid with some flexible bits - cope with the movement, so it probably isn't too much.

What you could do is attach a stick across the rear of the rocker covers and have a felt-tip pen on it, drawing on a bit of paper. Try a few launches, etc, and see how much movement you pick up.

Well I could if it as running.

I think I get humped joiners will only be about an extra £10.

The engine won't often move that far (until the mounts fail) but you should allow for plus or minus an inch of sideways movement without anything straining.

I would assume if using a fully silicone hose then that will bend in the middle to give some play, but as I using a metal joiner there will be no flexing at the bend, so I think the humped connectors will be needed.

Will make the airflow a bit less smooth, but no more or less than the crap corigated hose.
