My question is: does the 'no seatbelt' warning light and buzzer go off for the passenger's seat (ie. someone in it and not plugged in) as well as the drivers?

It only works on the driver's side on mine and I want to quickly check that it's supposed to be passenger side too before I pop the car in.

I ask as we did about 2 hours driving before my passenger realised she wasn't wearing hers! Don't quite know how she did this, but clearly it's makes the buzzer rather important!

Thanks

Ben

surely only drivers side, never heard of pressure pads under a passenger seat to see if it is occupied before

Yes - I think it should do, did on my 997 anyway...

Certainly the Mk5 Golf does just this - boings away like crazy if either side doesn't have the seatbelt on....

I have a Cayman and the buzzer works on driver side only.

Having said this, my previous car was a BMW Z4 and that bloody thing used to beep even if I had a bottle of water on the passenger side. Most irritating!

Bizarre cost saving considering their attention to detail (I only recently noticed lights in the door handles!)

Same on the 997 - no warning on the passenger side (at least not on mine).

i belive you can set it either way.

not sure if this is via pcm or if porsche have to do it themselves, but i'm pretty sure that you have the choice.

I think it's intentional - not a cost saving. Nothing more annoying than sticking a heavy bag/shopping on the passenger seat (as is often necessary in sports cars with limited luggage space) only for it to bleep away at you.

Porsche owners are intelligent enough to decide whether to wear their seatbelts / remember to put them on without having a computer to tell them...

There are no occupancy sensors on UK cars, its for the americam market so no the car does not know if there is a passenger sat in it
