Mrs S has a standard S4 (4.2 V8) & it is a seriously quick car. She is currently thinking about getting it remapped...

Baiting partner of mine had a 'red' one getting all pushy behind him near above area, unfortunately for the RS m8's 'old' S4 its highly modded running over 450bhp, I can vouch as it sticks to my tail!..

At least the RS went for the 'I can still take corners faster' roundabout move to show him who's boss driving

A mate of mine has new RS4 and 996TT but thinks his old RS4 (avant shape) was the best allrounder .

I've had a good punt in the new RS4. Whilst it was a great car and fast(ish), it left me feeling like it could do with another 100 bhp. It's a big heavy lump.

His m8's modded rs4(b5) rated at around 450 was not really in the game, both of us could pass, however the S4 was so strong.. Trouble is he's now putting 770cc injectors and rs6 modded turbos... grrrrr.... That'll def. be byebye on straights to most....

On way back from Spa 2 years ago happily pootling along in my RS with Agent Orange in his Audi RS Blue GT2 days, a fairly stealth Audi Coupe of mid 90's era came past, the two of them took off into the distance. Agent O said at the time that it gave the GT2 which was rated at 525 bhp at the time I think, a very good run for its money and this was with the gas foot firmly pressed down.

Guy who owned the Audi tracked down Vic through various forums etc and it turned out he ran a mapping/tuning shop in the UK.

Ben, that was Mineah at www.mrctuning.co.uk
I mentioned this to him after Vic told me of the encounter..

The only time I have trouble getting the RS past the '00 blue Audi is if I have parked it in front of the garage blocking my exit smile

Lol, you'd better watch out cos Doug @ MRC has just managed to convinced my s4 m8 to sell him an RS4 engine destined for his car, so I imagine the MRC600 project is ramping up....gulp

Audi RS seem to out pace most Big Porsche in a straight line, however what are they like in the bends?

well you'll never escape the weight, but Audi handling is much maligned (i guess the standard cars are a bit too safe); decent suspension (iirc i had kw's with helper springs), and porsche (big red/brembo) brakes, with agressive setup meant you could attack a road with abandon like in a 996tt. quattro 4wd is great, a bit of trail braking and you can induce comedy evoesque oversteer, i had all the electronics unplugged on mine. don't beleive the numpties who say the engines too far forward and all they do is understeer, standard cars maybe, thats like saying 911's are sh1t cos of its CoG. on track you just can't escape the weight, but it'll still take a well driven gt3 to keep up. mine suffered heat soak on track- just too much power and weight - ecu knocking back boost and timing to keep it safe after 10/15 min abuse smile

I have a "mere" 340hp 2000 B5 S4 - fabulous car - my second one. MRC tuned. Nothing better for the cash - £10Kish all in - telly, satnav, 4wd, leather & carbon fibre, awesome stereo, properly fast, excellent non-aging/wearing audi interior. My daily driver. And when the turbos go, they'll be replaced with RS4 ones and run 400hp. Looking forward to it...
