Mike, just to be clear, large hammers may be used on suspension components - but never on the electrical systems whilst still in the car 
You must stop breaking everything!
There are some 'nice' Vauxhall alloy ones IIRC, but I wouldn't be surprised if the connectors are different. The switches are not so complex that you couldn't adapt the wiring to suit I guess.

Sorry boyo used to the 450SE Wedge, you had to hit everything with a hammer to get things to work!
Managed to take the switch apart and fix it, although its still a little dodgy.
Going to put everything back together again over the weekend.......all ready then to take the dash off!
Be prepared for some questions ;-)
