The wait while shes in the garage...anyone know the feeling?
Discussion
Well I've got a week or so of sitting here wondering what news is going to come back my way, I've dropped her in to TVR London, where I've asked them to give her a good check over and see what they think, and to do a thorough service including tappets/valve clearance , whatever throttle pot setup and any other engine setup/tuning needed to get it working just as it should, im told to expect a bill around £1200 for this. Can't wait to hear their thoughts on the car.
I know the feeling only too well. After hitting a scaffolding pole on a duel carriageway my car is still sitting in a garage. The last time I saw her she was in several pieces (engine + gearbox out job – plus all the other gubbins that lives in there. All that work just for a new sump. I have stopped counting the days but I think it is over three weeks now.

I feel for you! :| Tim.
Must be hugely annoying when you cant even blame yourself for it, at least if you slid her out into a bush or something you could say "oh well, it was my fault", but this way, you're resigned to spending your life looking menacingly at badly loaded trucks.
the only consolation - "Absence makes the heart grow fonder"!

I know exactly how you feel. I bought my cerb, drove 100 miles and the timing chain went. It's now back in blackpool geting rebuilt. Been away about 3 or 4 weeks, just waiting on the new valves and pistons. There is nothing worse than watching all the nice weather drift buy without the car to enjoy it but it will be worth it when they return.

£1200+vat for basically a 12000 mile service, unless they knew things were wrong or are going to be wrong...http://www.austec.co.uk/servicing.htm
Add say two new throttle pots £90 maybe
HT Leads £100 you never know
New coil packs £150 maybe
Lamda sensors £150
then you may be at £1200, but I think if you had to change all this, the car probably was not running or like a pile of shite...

Longest ours has been away is just over 3 weeks, heartbreaking when you call in to see how he's getting on and there is a cardboard box full of nuts and bolts off Trev on the bench
Great when you pick him up and he drives better than he has in a long time. Until the Nitrons softened up that is and it was like driving on blamange till we tightened them again.
And for some reason Trev always seems to go in the garage in good weather, and when it rains he is ready to come home......

You can't be in the UK then!!
Mine goes in for a service in a few weeks, except i'm driving 600miles to get it done because it's too expensive in Scotland.
My worst was when I first purchased. Went to Leven's for a health check and was greated when I returned with "come and sit down, would you like a cup of tea?". Flat-bedded next day.
It was not the trips to TVR-Power that bothered me so much, although I pined in it's absence, it was trying to maintain a smile as the grim tale unfolded.

Gloat you may about Scottish weather, but when you need to drive down South to pick up a fresh supply of Scrumpy, Clotted Cream, Scones and fashionable clothing that does not make your want to scratch your danglies all day, you won't be able to get past the giant pond that is called the Midlands.

It's been one of the worst June's since records began and July is proving to be much the same
