I work for myself. On my own. Giving advice to clients that are mostly too lazy to care.

Earning a average of £9K per month (£3K net in the bank). However that's down 38% on last year.

But......................BORED.BORED.BORED.BORED.BORED.BORED,BORED.BORED.BORED..

I feel lost and strangely vurnerable. It's not that I don't like money, it's just that I feel I'm sitting on a time bomb increasingly fuelled by internet 'expertise'. What I offer is old-fashioned interactivty and an ongoing care. My Client-base increasingy do not care due to the perceived wisdom of the internet and 'going direct'.

I'm a throwback looking for a reason to get out.

I have to find something tangible to provide..

What do I do?......Corporate Advice

Why do I care?.......It's all I've ever done.

It's never been me. (fast buck has it's appeal however...sayin?).

Integrity is something I have but feel I'm losing.

I think these days, integrity is a pretty rare thing in all walks of life. I'm trying to hang on to mine, but I'm sure I'm the worse for it.

The "fast buck" is the cause, and the conclusion. There are only so many "fast bucks" to be made, and then the boot is on the other foot. If and when it happens, just remember all those who stiffed you and wasted the proceeds, and feel shameless whith your lack of remorse.

If that's all you can make stick to you no wonder you are feeling like doing something else.

Umm.

Back to the grindstone, matey. Unless you want to cash it all in, go live in Sri Lanka and write novels you might want to consider something like Golf.

For Sale - A Wife.

Spec-
Shop-soiled.
Attached to her Mother & Sister...(sometimes I think with an invisible umbilical cord).
Useless in the Kitchen.
Career prospects improving (currently £30K P.A).
Doesn't want to move to Sri Lanka.
Short.
Often a bit lacking in common sense.
No taste in Men,
Nice Jubblies.

hehe

Simple answer.

Start a website.

Offer 'basic' advice free - sell your consultancy skills - maybe even 'sell out' advertising space for specific companys..

If that is the case, you can either beat them, or join them.

Join them is easy. However to beat them you need to reinvent your product and redefine it is such a way that what YOU do could NOT be done over the internet. Market yourself as a 'real person' and the benefits that that has.

Thinking out of the box even further, when your back is against the wall and you have less to lose is the perfect time for even further reinvention and something really new in the marketplace, something bizarre that even if people can copy in a few years time you will still have made a killing in the meantime.

With some more info on what exactly you do and what the competitors offer I could stick you in the right direction...?

What sort of corporate advice? Group Pension advice and Employee Benefits, or Mergers and Acquisitions, or Management Consultancy, etc?

Thanks for the input lads.

I'm a Corporate Travel Agent dealing with Senior Management level of smaller Privately owned Businesses. The lion's share of my income comes from Management fee agreements.....This is getting harder to sell each year. The perception is, 'I'll save money and do it myself on the internet'. Finding new Business that is profitable is also getting harder. Everyone's an expert and I increasingly am being used for my expertise then they bugger off and book online to save £20. I work on my own. I'm bored f*ck1ng sh1tless. I've lost all enthusiasm for the Business (even though I'm still making a sheckle or 5). I want to go and play golf and drive fast cars and fondle women (not cleared that with the wife yet). After 2 years of not being tied to a desk watching my Business die slowly, I want to do something else with the rest of my life. I want out of the 'advice' market and into something tangible. I'd even consider working for someone else.........now that shows how bad it's got!
