Hi all, where can I find a pair of standard rear shocks for an S1? I would consider a good used pair if anyone has any from an upgrade, also strugging to find a original front indicator

Front indicators are well discussed on this forum and the originals are about impossible to get now although some have been lucky - Leyland DAF part AU2249 if I recall. alternatives suggested include the Kia Pride, a BMW E30 -best looking alternative in my opinion...(not M3) Ford Maverick and more recently old Mazda 323... as I say its well discussed and if you search you will see the choices.

sorry I cant help with original shocks which are Koni's and again I believe they will not be available but alternatives are easily available, AVO's etc

I'm sure I read that S1 shocks are slightly different to the rest of the S's. Might be worth a search or someone providing some wisdom. IIRC trailing arms are different too and no longer available S1 style, if you need a new one you have to change them both. Guess who's swallowed Steve Heath's bible!

I hope you don't mind me asking this, but why would you want to fit a standard pair of shocks? I know from experience on my own cars that the modern replacements are far far far superior and, if properly set up, have such a positive effect handling of the car.

I have Gaz Gold on my Griff and Nickle on my Chim also had Nitrons on my Cerb, so I understand what you are saying, but the car is being used for two (originaly one) weddings and will be sold on, its not long been MOTed but imho the rear shocks are a little tired and need changing, the buget does not run to Gaz ect unfortunatly.

Yes I did the usual searches, the Leyland Daf parts are now officially out of production, I notice a few people has upgraded and wondered if anyone had one good one to sell, if not I will have to investigate E30 option I think, do the screw holes line up and is it only the lenses or the whole unit I need?

You will need to retain the body from the original and bond the new lens to it. The screws line up I believe. The E30 ones come smoked or orange. but again I would suggest you do a search to get the detailed info you need which you will see has been discussed as recently as the last couple of pages ago...
