I have just organised my first trip to the 'Ring with a few people with work who are also members on here (one of them is the guy that started the porsche v TVR thread a few weeks back.

I am very much looking forward to it but plan just to take it very easy! I am going on sunday 22nd for a half a days play on the 23rd.

Mark, whilst it is advisable to show The Ring lots of respect, it isnt as frightening as you (or certainly I) may think. smile

I didnt swot up on the track as some others did (mainly coz I sold my Playstation about a month before booking the trip as I didnt think I would need/play it again rolleyes)and whilst its advisable, not essential. Good idea, if you can, to get someone who has a vague knowledge of the track to come out with you for your first lap, as there are many blind crests/bends etc over/round which you have no idea which way the track goes (and you wonder why the Ring snotter 1980 Golf Gti comes storming past you when you are absolutely sure there is a hairpin coming up over the brow, to find several hundred more yards of straight track before the bend paperbag)

The other thing that amazed me was, despite the queues to get on, and the number of cars and bikes about, once out on track everyone finds there own pace and you will mostly be on your own or with someone of a similar pace. Just get out the way for the nutters in cars and on bikes yikes

As TC says, just have fun smile

Yeah, but he'll only know how to drive it slowly as he would in his Porsche

I'm heading over for the Cerbera's 1st trip at the end of August. I took my VX there 2 years ago and loved it.....

As someone said...it's not as scary as people make out however you do have to show some respect and realise that because of it's size....it's sunny at one part and peeing down at another. We had these conditions for 3 days last time and only managed one "fast lap" in the dry.

Can't wait.......

Just need Joo to do the Whirlwind and re-map before I go however i'm 7th in line so possibly unlikely.....if anyone wants to trade places in the queue...there is lots of beer tokens and eternal gratitude waiting smileDon't want to be passed by the Porsche's
