Saw it at the weekend. Got a few pictures of it. Dark blue, tan interior. Very nice car. Not as big as i was expecting, due to previous talk. Found the interior a bit dull compared with the olds ones. The exterior is just, well, very nice. I need a test drive!
Considering it was a invite from the dealer. I found it very naff. No greetings, just walked in took some photos had a play then left!
Yes i will post them, there on my phone at the moment.

Same one they had at leeds. There's some more photos on www.carsinthepark.org.uk gallery.
Would need to drive one to be honest, at the moment it's just eye candy

I saw the Granturismo at the FOS and was very impressed and subsequently, have placed a deposit on one to be delivered next year. This will be my first Maserati, as although I have had test-drives in the past the poor reputation for reliability always made me hold back; probably an over-cautious approach.
The main reason for posting was to ask some Maserati owners, what extras are essential to ensure that depreciation is not unduly catastrophic. My feeling is not to fit Skyhook, as I prefer to limit as much as possible any electronic interface with the driving experience. However, a friend and long-term Masser owner tells me that Skyhook is an essential extra when one comes to sell the car.
Some of the other extras, such as the Bose sound system, look essential, but any advice that anyone can give me will be much appreciated and I do look forward to Maranello getting their demonstrator so that I can have my first drive in one.

Skyhook is essential.....A very high percentage of Maserati's in the UK have it. Pretty sure when I bought my Coupe new, that skyhook was in the base price but not sure. The main reason for posting was to ask some Maserati owners, what extras are essential to ensure that depreciation is not unduly catastrophic. GT it is definitely an costed option which is a bit silly IMO.
The 20" wheels look pretty nice too.

Thanks for the advice, it's what I pretty much thought. If I go for the 20" wheels, it will bring it to well over £85,000.00, but even so I think it is quite good value for what you get.The 20" wheels look pretty nice too.
Roll on next April 2008.

Meant to post a few days ago....
It was the blue left hooker at Lancasters on Friday afternoon...
I though it looked very very impressive, didn't look as big in the flesh as I had been led to believe. the blue colour was stunning, as was the contrasting light interior.
I really like it, and can't wait to drive one....
I did ask about availability (as you do), and if I had put down a £5K deposit, that would get me into one around mid 2008....

I know I was the one giving the "false" impressions... It was the blue left hooker at Lancasters on Friday afternoon...

Again, a question of taste. The car is certainly bigger than the current line-up (save the QP by inches... no surprise as they share the same platform) and, again IMHO, it lacks ooomph. OK, meant to be a GT, but then a 612 is also meant to be a GT and, truly, is on a completely different league (and price tag, I must admit.)
The GT with a beefer engine (say 470 bhp) would mean business, although I'm still not 100% convinced by some bodywork lines. The Mondeo-like rear lights and S2000-like headlights are not to my taste; a bit over-bloated in the sharp-edges department (less curvaceous than the current Coupe; what an Italian breed is meant to be) and, as many have pointed in PH before, tell me where you would place the front numberplate without "destroying" the inverted grille looks.
Having driven one it honestly feels heavy, lacks crispness, to no surprise as it shares the same engine as the current line-up and it's much heavier. Fine for cruising, not sporty. Maybe not meant to be anyway.
I had considered the GT but decided to hold-on for a couple of years until improvements come along the way (including a new engine, which seems is on the cards) or better still, the new Gransport version which rumours place for the 2009 Geneva show.
Here's a photo I took today at HR Owen's ride'n'drive day.

It was very nice of HR Owen to invite us for a drive seeing as we're not exactly in a position to buy one, but full marks to them for letting me have a full test drive anyway. Lovely car, felt very well built with that important german feel. The only negative point for me was the size of the paddles behind the wheel. They're too large so I kept going for the paddle when really I wanted the indicator. The exhaust note was near perfect, the ride really smooth, even on 20" wheels down the country lanes. Probably the most effortless fast car I've driven for a long long time. Please Santa can I have one in dark gey with red leather.
I'll have to start putting the pennies away and hope to save enough to one day afford one.

I just dropped mine off to be sorted. Here's the list of repairs,
- complete new sat nav/dash system
- both doors to be releathered
- new Bose speaker to be fitted
- rubber tray to be re affixed
- new nose because of hairline fracture
- seatbelt to be fixed as it jams
- petrol cap opener to be replaced
I think that's it.
