(Turbo G-car) Wheel wobble under braking?
Discussion
Hi All
Just wondered if anyone has any tips on curing wheel wobble under braking!
I've owned my 1984 Turbo G-car for 19 years now and i've had wheel wobble before, i cured it then by replacing the disc's, it's now back and i've just replaced them again, but this time no joy!
Could it be the anti roll-bar rubbers and bushing as i've just replaced the shocks and sprigs, upper ball joint and lower trunnions, new tyres, balanced wheels, also there's no play in the rack and the wishbone bushing seemed ok when i did the shock's. (wheel bearings, callipers, pads are all mint) and it's only under braking?
Any advice would be welcome. Thanks Alan

Alan,
It's probably not in the suspension rather in the calipers, wheel bearings etc.
Place the car on a jack and try shimmying the whell side to side, if there is a wobble, your bearings are loose and the hub nut must be retightened. Did you rotate the wheel while tightening to allow the bearings to seat? If not, you left a looseness in them and they will wobble, especially under braking.
Another culprit is air in one caliper, giving it a lower 'clamping' force than it's mate. This would cause a wobble.
Also, make sure that your pads are properly positioned, if one is making a smaller contact patch than the other, the result could be a wobble. Hope these suggestions help. Happy Motoring! Jim'85TE
