Diablo Driving Experience Goodwood
Discussion

I did one of those track day experiences today, drove three laps of the Goodwood Circuit today in a Diablo VT in the pouring rain, bit of a shock compared to my Cerbera, heavy clutch was to be expected, but very heavy throttle which felt a trifle odd.
Supposed to be a 500 bhp VT but the exhaust system had some kind of greenhouse heater contraption grafted on which was presumably to keeps the DBs down!
I was told by the instructor once in 4th to stay in that gear for the duration, so was not able to experience any ballistic acceleration but that V12 has so much torque it still pulls like a train from any speed.
Despite the peeing rain and my complete unfamiliarity with the beast on the final lap managed to get a bit of tail wiggle round St Mary's and was quite pleased when I glanced at the Speedo as I entered Woodcote at the end of the Lavant straight at just over 180 KPH.
Must admit, entering that cockpit for the first time was a fabulous experience nice big intimidating open gate shifter, wide sills and those fabulous scissor doors, who knows, maybe one day, sigh!

They let you use 1/6th of the gears available

I reckon you should get 5/6th of the cost back.

I did this in April this year. Was meant to drice the gallardo but the track was 100+ miles from me and i was restricted with time!
I ended up going to Goodwood as it was much closer.
I loved every second of being in the gallardo...although the instructor (oldish guy) told me to keep it in high gear due to the high levels of torque (Although a few times i cheekily shifted down at the begining of straights!).
Was a really good day so was perfect for the track!
Best 18th Bday prez ever!!

I did one of these last year in the 308.
It was part of a West Sussex backed driving scheme pilot and the Ferrari drive was £50 I think...
Shame about the gears... they only let me use 4th for the chicane and 5th everywhere else, although still got at least 105 out of it (thats what i saw!) but it was a little more!
I would be interested about other driving days... Simon's and Andy's 6th gear certainly looks like a hell of a day!

I heard they do this shite for the Ferrari days, too. They won't get my money. I hear Rockingham/Jonathon Palmer are more lenient once they suss your driving skill level.
Not been on one myself, but heard similar tales.Know someone who paid for a Ferrari experience... and turned up to find a Porsche 911...
bloody hell.....diablo round Goodwood....pair flay, but I would never have fancied that myself (it's probably because I'm a gayer of innordinate order but Goodwood scares me!)
And whilst I understand WHY the venues do this gear and rev limiting I think I would be quite annoyed if it were me paying....
