Can anyone tell me the difference between the two, 996 GT2 and a CGT? Obviously, the CGT is lower but by how much? Also, I've read somewhere that the ride height on the CGT can be raised by adjusting the suspension settings? Is this correct? Thanks smile

I seem to remember reading somewhere (can't for the life of me remember!) that there was a kit that was available to allow nose lift on the CGT.... possibly RUF... Sorry, just a little useless! wink

Ruf do a suspension package which allows you to lift the front by a couple of inches for speed bumps etc but weighs in at Euro 11k or so. Considered it for my GT2 but wasnt sure its really worth it esp when OPC started telling me I would have warranty issue if I fitted it

Thanks guys, I'm guessing the CGT probably sits an inch or two lower than the GT2? Been told that the Carrera can be a problem with ramps and speed humps but really how low are they??

Manthey have a very nice kit for raising the CGT ride height.
Works off the key fob, and is a clean installation.

It's been done on one car, which was just finished a week ago after five months of development and tweeking.
Not sure what the RRP will be.

Ground clearance on the cgt is about 65mm on euro cars and 75mm on the american spec.
Its not been a problem so far at usa spec.
Its not a simple job to alter the height, you need to change the length of the pushrods for the inboard suspension.
I know some one who may have some usa spec rods,if you want to lift it 10mm or so.
I thought about a hydraulic lift for bumps etc,but not needed so far.

Ground clearance on US cars is in fact 86mm which is accuarate for the lowest point on the front splitter however the vanes directing air onto the brakes underneath are actually only 45mm away from Terra, but being so close to the wheel makes it unlikely to whack them.
In the blurb Porsche said all CGT production had exactly the same suspension/chassis set up so I was surprised to hear that the Euro cars are lower - RS Tuning offer a LOWERING kit FFS, takes 15mm out so potentially your Euro CGT could be 55mm if the numbers posted are accurate ?

Freewheeler, can you post up if you get any more info on the Manthey height kit ?

:scratchchin;

Cannot measure one at the mo, but that definitely sounds too low.

The pushrod modification was an option. It raises the front 10mm and the rear 9mm. The ride height information in the CGT workshop manual states 92mm front (+2/-0) and 110mm rear (+3/-0) these are taken from the tyre contact patch to specified positions under the vehicle. I don't know what this translates as in terms of ground clearance but will look over the weekend.

Interesting that the workshop manual says 92mm ? The (US) owner's handbook says 86mm and that is exactly what I measured for the front splitter which (apart from those brake cooling ducts) appears to be the lowest part of the car.

The handbook details 'ground clearance' not 'vehicle height' which I suspect is where the disparagy is.

I've sent you an e-mail with the page from the workshop manual.

Thanks for that..... yes you are of course right. The 92mm is measured at the undertray at a point near those brake ducts hence why it is slightly (6mm) higher than the bottom of the front splitter.

My car is 75mm at the front undertray, its also been altered at some point on the spring perches, may be to re corner weight the car, when the standard exhaust was removed.
I also have a porsche brochure tec details which say 75mm ground clearance !.
But It also says in my service info technik manual that the rear & front axle clearance is to DIN empty 86mm.This is probably for the usa,but it does not say so.
There is some adjustment on the pushrods for fine tuning.

you can buy an ohlins kit, for the 996 at least, which is a hydraulic spring collar and mini-pump to raise 60mm on the go. dom at fearnsport sent me the product sheet but i lost it ask him if interested.

oh and its 1/4 the price of ruf's
