Ok, so I bought a new fairing and a new can. So there's very little wrong with the R6.
I've been offered a px figure of £3,500 (don't forget 18.5k miles)against an OTR price of £7,100 for the 750. This inclues all fees/charges, 2 year warrenty, and a full tank and delivery.

Not bad is it?
Plus the bloke sounded like a nice bloke. Not patronising like the other dealers, which in my book counts for a lot TBH!

What do we think?

So that means you pay £3600. Is there a Yamaha dealer who will give you an R1 for your R6 plus £3600? (Has to be worth asking the question!)

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!

Really not gonna ask. I'll keep the 750 for a year or so, then I might realise my dream!! The 2007 R1 in Black is rather rare, so I'm led to believe.

Why the obsession with new bikes? Sell yours on fleabay and get something low mileage like this;

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/195488.htm

Price looks a few hundred optimistic, mind.

Dunno really. Please go with me on this....I've already changed my mind 800 times....... 750 for a year or so......750 for a year or so........750 for a year or so......

Are you bothered about having the newest reg possable or a good deal??

If you hang on a few weeks, you could squeeze some more out of the dealer just before the reg change, Dealers are more will to do a deal to get a sale in the quiet month leading upto the change...They all have targets to reach!!

I've got to say chilli I think you're mad buying new for the sort of riding you do. You'd be so much better off buying a nearly new that's taken a hit already before you add your commuter miles to it.

Hi Chili - I was on track at Snet Wed night and my K6 GSXR thousand was feeling heavy on some of the tighter turns. I hired an R6 cup last year which was fantastic in the corners - much faster. Yeah, the thousand is great on the road where you don't feel the weight as much but, on the track, the 600 or 750 would suit much better.

What I'm trying to say is that I reckon you'll keep the 750 for longer than a year - I sat on my mates 2007 GSXR 750 and the weight difference is noticeable even at standstill. My 1000 feels like a barge when you directly compare them.

The R1 is even heavier!

Rob.

Nick, The Tramp has a good point here....Also I know that you can get a black 2007 R1 reasonably quickly as I enquired about one myself last Thursday and I was told I could have one this week if I wanted it........but I've decided to keep my current R1 as it really isn't that much different to the 2007 model and especially as I put more miles on a bike than you do.

Ah, C2...Glad you popped in....need to pick your brains on the basic M3 vs CSL debate! (forgetting the 348 and the T350c for the minute!)

I hear what you're saying, but I have zero patience, and want one now. I also want the right colour, the finance, etc etc, and love the convenience of popping out of the office, exchanging keys and that's that!

Depends on what type of riding you will be doing predominantly. But a little weight tends to improve road bikes IMO.

Can't help it chief, just need a bit of help and reassurance on a subject I know FA about. Agreed, I'm even getting tired of it, but on the plus side, I think I've just ordered it.
Just think, had I not started posting on here,I might have bought a car!!
Cheers.

Hello mate,
basically, is the extra cost worth it? I mean, I love the fact that the M3 has it's creature comforts (comfy seats, electric everything, sat nav, stereo etc) AND the fact that it's pretty nippy. However, is it worth sacrificing these to get the CSL. Is there that much difference in performance, that you'd use on the road....or it is only really noticeable on the track. I'm roughly looking at spending late £20k's. I'm guessing servicing/running costs are similar?

Cheers mate.
