Had the ST serviced last week. I used the Tregonning dealer in Wadebridge as it's close to my wifes folks house and half the price of my local dealer. While I was at the dealers I had a browse round the new Mondeo. It's pretty good but my big shock was when I asked the salesman how many they had sold so far.

"None Sir"

And there was me thinking Ford were on to a winner.......

Is this weird or because I was in Cornwall?

We have sold quite a number already and have a number on order, our launch was last weekend so encouraging so far and given that sales of large cars are traditionally slow it seems to be going ok.

Maybe it's just a Cornwall thing then!

I'm eagerly awaiting the new Mondeo ST, as with Flasher junior on the way I may need more room....

Much the same as we do Dave, having seen the faliure to release a number of high spec sporty models in recent years you never really know what they are upto but as yet nothing filtering through from Ford.

Sad really, in the good old day's you could bank on the RS or Cosworth badge, now you are lucky to get the ST frown Blame that fat tt Gordon Brown-i mean £400 VED on a MONDEO FFS is just plain taking the piss!! I still love my 220 mind biggrin And Ford, if your listening, never under estimate the effect of a "halo" model,in other words Mk4 ST, V6 twin turbo with 4 wheel drive & 300BHP please biggrin (Or i'd even settle for 250BHP front wheel drive!!!!). Just bring out a PETROL ST please!!!!!!

Dont worry Dave i pass on as many of those thoughts as i can whenever i get the attention of someone from head office,in general Ford have developed all or most of the models we would want to see just for one reason or another they never quite get out into the marketplace. The current Focus ST wasnt quite what Ford had in mind but they had consistent driveshaft faliures and chose to release them with around 225ps, it was a similar story with the Focus RS and the ST170 for one reason or another. In all cases the highest power model developed didn't see the light of day despite passing through the testing phases and being ready to roll into production.

And as it's a turbo surely not much required to get an ST version?? Stick the nice body kit that i've seen on it and tweek the power up slightly.........

As mentioned in the thread, the optional bodykit looks pretty good. Heard rumours of a 3 month wait list for the Mondy though... frown

S-Max with the 2.5 in Titanium spec is a hoot... driving
