Wishbone removal
Discussion
Hey guys looking for some advice on the easiest way to remove all the wishbones front and rear to get them cleaned up and painted. I've started at the front and all the bolts so far have come of easy enough but need to know how to separate the lower wishbone from the hub. Any other advice welcome.
Cheers Billy.

A couple of months back I'd have known the answer off the top of my head 'cos I was spending so much time under my car.
My house renovations have meant the car has had to take a back seat for a while.
I'll have a search through my pictures from under the car and see if I have anything there.
Is there any info in the service manual on Byker's site?

Hi !
First you take the bigger bolts away, the ones that are on the bottom of the hub, they hold a bracket where the steering arm goes on to the hub. On top of that bracket there is a nut that holds the lower ball joint to the bracket, undo it and the bracket is loose, hopefully. The shaft which ends with the treads for the mentioned nut on the lower ball joint is conical so it might be hard to get the bracket away without a puller. Once you have the bracket away you take out the four smaller bolts that go through the wishbone and the ball joint comes off.
I used a lot of WD40 when i took mine apart.
Here You can see how mine came out after "some" hours of blasting sanding and painting. My wife think it was to many.

Good luck
Peppe
