Can this be right??

Exahust manifolds... I mentioned this on an earlier post, but I have some pics now! My concern is that the offside manifold is actually touching the chassis member.





This doesn't strike me as good(!) and the tube is probably half it's original diameter and it doesn't allow for any engine rock etc. The nearside - fair enuff, can deal with that...



Is this what everyone has on their's? Or has this been poorly fitted earlier in it's life?

No, it's always been a 350i - got the full history back to the year dot. These manifolds were done back in '96

I'm sure mine knocks the chassis a bit now and then, the previous owner said it should need flattening a bit as it looks like yours has already

Aye, mine has more room than that although it does touch the engine mounting on the l/h side.

Are your engine mounts in good condition and correct? Just wondering if the engine is in the correct position relative to the chassis??

I think so - just been serviced and MOT'd. Will have a closer look tomorrow, but am not getting any transmission knocks like you usually associate with knackered mounts...

I cant see the pics you've posted but on my '84 350i the offside manifold was flattened to suit where it came into contact with a chassis member. When i had the manifolds replaced the guys at the exhaust place in Macclesfield (sorry name escapes me but they make the exhausts for RT and used to advertise in sprint about 10 years ago) were not surprised by the original mainfold assembly and told me that although no 2 wedge's are identical they had seen similar before on cars of this vintage.

Mounts are ok - looks like I am off to find a 'man who can' to get some new one's...
