Daz and I are back with tales of derring do, highlights including:

- Cupholder testing around the Green Hell
- 173mph on those funny foreign roads
- German comedy personalised plates

I will write up something and get the photos downloaded, then ask Ted to put something up on PH or get them hosted somewhere linkable.

Excellent - Andy forfeited the Nurburgring to fettle your beastie, so it shows he is a committed chap!

He is trying to find an M5 engine and box for the BMW (400bhp one!) so it should be an awesome bit of kit at some point.

Glad you had a good one Dom, I'm gutted I had to pull out, however my anger at the reasons why I couldnt really justify the cost at the mo resulted in some impressive feats on skill at the weekend!-

1- clay pigion shooting I only missed 1 clay in my session :wheres-the-dead-chuffed-smiley: maybe Derestrictor will want me to shoot poachers on his estate

2- (And I do appreciate this may seem quite sad, but it cheered me up no end) I got 1st in the welly boot throwing competition at my local Village fete I only got 2nd last yr so I was dead chuffed you see you London boys don't appreciate the fast pace of life we country dwellers have. Ooh'ahhrrrr

LOL, welly boot throwing was a classic. Cheers for txt! Reminds me of 'The Office':

Gareth: 'He's thrown a kettle over a pub. What have YOU done?'

'Twas a good trip. But was about 200 GBP even for a passenger, double that for driving. Not sure the Bank of Iguanaland would like that at the moment.

Cheers

Not quite mein co-pilot. £133 for eurotunnel, £200 for lap tickets, £300 for fuel, £150 for beer and snacks, £135 for Dorint, £60 for guesthouse.

Of course the above excludes depreciation on 1,500 miles and wear and tear on the brakes and tyres.

(Interesting discussion going on on another forum about buying an old high powered VW, eg 16v golf and turning it into a disposable Ring Toy, Domster spec, ie roll cage but no interior trim etc.....Hmmmm....A few of us buy some of these babies and leave them over there, then we commute in my luxobarge splitting the costs of fuel, eurotunnel etc......)

I know a group of non PH members who keep a 964 Cup car near to the ring. They are Brits, but apparently it costs next to nothing to store it,you fly in by Ryanair.
If you drove a cup car to the ring from the UK you may feel less fresh than you need to be to tackle the "Green hell"

Paul the ridiculously cheap storage charge has been brought to my attention, but what I am particularly interested in is the ability to:

1 - razz the motor with cheap consumables.

2 - fit roll cage and wear a helmet.

3 - laugh it off should my lack off skill end up binning the car into the armco.

4 - Reduce costs of multiple visits per year, eg shared commuting costs.

Of course the main one is keeping the extreme mileage off of my pride and joy, which can be safely asleep in the garage.

All good ideas that apply equally to using a (shared) dedicated track day toy in the UK (thus saving somewhat on the commuting costs).

Or is it just the lure of the 'Ring? Perhaps try our very own Cadwell "Mini Ring" Park?

Valid points JC, for me it's a Ring thing, for £500 per year you can get unlimited access to the "tourists" sessions. There's also the cheap booze, grub and lads on tour atmosphere of the place. A colleague is alledgedly looking into the cost of anyperson third party insurance policies in germany.

My figures were optimistically low Daz, I had forgotten the Dorint cheque and the credit card stuff like some fuel for you. Maybe nearer 300 for me... and as for 200 GBP on lap tickets... now I know why I wasn't driving Season ticket here we come.

Glad you liked it. Don't think I mentioned 964RSs too much, either
