my 1st drive in a sagaris (WOW)
Discussion
Had my first drive of a sag today and 5 hours later im still buzzing, the car is just an amazing piece of kit, it felt a fair bit quicker than the T350 I drove last week but felt so much more planted, it also sounded a lot nicer than I was expecting a fair bit growlier than the 350, I had a gorgeous black t350 on my shortlist as well as this sag but after driving them both there could only be one winner, so ive just gotta wait for the loan to be transferred to my account and by about thursday at the latest im gonna be the proud owner of the car of my dreams. How am I gonna sleep tonight now.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Do you know what diffs / gearboxes the T350 and Sag had that you drove.
TBH having owned 2 T350s and now the Sag, the Sag doesnt feel a great deal quicker acceleration wise, not noticably, things will however improve substantially when i get the CR gearbox and either 3.7 or 3.9 final drive.
The standard Sag ie std box and 3.4 diff doesnt really feel any quicker in my experience the a the 2 T350s i had however i never checked what diff they where running.
Now the handling is a whole new area entirely

Hi Nick,
my car has the std gearbox (non cr) but the owner wasn't sure about the diff ratios I will check it properly when I get my mitts on it, im kinda expecting it to have the 3.46 ratio box on it but im not really that bothered as it felt so quick compared to my griffith, will possibly change to a 3.73 or 3.79 in the future if necessary, where you getting yours done and how much approx.
Ian.

Topcats racing are going to do it, the current diff to be uprated with CW&P and CR bits for the current gearbox. Parts are about 1300 labour is about 1100 ish

My Sag has standard box and I agree that the performance is only marginally more than the T350 I drove. To be fair its splitting hairs really as both cars are more than quick enough for road use (and track days for that matter). The Sag does handle well though, does'nt it! Just got back from drive to town and you can almost lip read drivers coming the other way saying one of two things: "a Sagaris" or "what's that!" :-D

Hi Max, when is your car booked in for the diff. I've got mine booked in a Topcat Racing on Aug 7th for a 3.9 diff.
Not actually booked in yet, im hopefully going to test drive daftlads sag sometime next week (CR and 3.9) and decide from there. Then it just depends on how long its going to take to order parts and get it booked inN

Max, let us know your thoughts after the test drive. I'd be very interested.
Neil,Well if i say shes booked in for gearbox and diff, probably just after yours, that should answer the question.
Thanks to John (daftlad) for the Test drive too, much appreciated, its that sort of tvr camaraderie that enhances the experience even more.
In comparison, they were like chalk and cheese.
1st and 2nd shouldnt have felt too much different, but Johns Sag did feel a little quicker in the 1st 2 gears but, 3rd and 4th felt ballistic in comparison, the acceleration seemed to continue at a similar rate in 3rd and 4th as it had in 1st and 2nd, whereas mine feels sluggish in comparison in the higher gears.
I found it more driveable in higher gears to, no need to drop a cog to get the acceleration you want.
Very impressed, i just hope mines turns out the same
