I was considering joining the TVR Car Club until I found this forum.

Would you recommend still joining? Are there any benefits? Group buys etc?

Cheers

YES, is the answer to your question, i would definately recommend joining.

As for benefits, you are then able to get discount on alot of things, the 2 main things being insurance and servicing at certain places.
Also you get their 'sprint' magazine each month, and the oppotunity (sp) to join in car club events, and also the car club meets etc.

I saved £49 on RAC membership on 3 cars so that has payed for my membership for the year straight away never mind all the other stuff you can save on.

Yes - it's worth it for the monthly magazine alone.

If Sprint was sold on the shelves of news agents it would probably sell between three and four pounds,so the membership fee is worth it for the magasine alone. If you are prepared to help out now and again you can get into events free (Classic Motor Show,Super Car Sunday etc)so well worth it.

As someone who hasn't yet got round to getting a TVR, I've got in touch with local members and been to one of the monthly meets - and found everyone extremely friendly and willing to help out with demonstrating how good TVRs are and of course offering advice. And the mag is good as well. So definitely worth joining.

I've subscribed to TG since 1999, these days I hardly read it, but when Sprint pops through the door the wife and kids run, don't bother me, I'm busy ;-)

I love Sprint, and really want to go to regional Hants meetings but haven't yet made it.

It's well worth it just for Sprint

Why Paul
I am genuinely curious...
Drop me a PM and I will send you my number and have a chat - see if I can change your mind!

I started on here and joined the club because of the benefits, now its about the people and the social side - the mates I have made are incredible

Ummmmm, why?

I'm not really a 'clubby' sort of person to be honest. That plus being hopelessly disorganised and having an erratic......I said errAtic...... work schedule means I'd probably never get to any meetings although I've been meaning to drop in at Baldock for three years. See what I mean? I'm hopeless nuts

Jioning the club is more than just going to meetings, but they are great to go to anyway, there is the mag for a start, then there is access to the web site, both can save you money when running your TVR, as i said before, i saved £49 on RAC membership in one year alone, more than the price to join the club, but it is down to you to decide if it is worth it or not.

I found that 12 issues of Sprint are well worth the entry fee, plus the many other additional savings that are available to the advantage of members, plus you are doing your bit to strengthen the marque.
The web site is very "cliquey" and quite poorly endorsed by the membership, certainly on the posting front..perhaps because it`s so cliquey but PH covers far more relevant issues and problems anyhow IMO.
..you pays your money and takes y` choice..or not.

Come on Flintstone - anyone who can make time to drive to MIRA and rev the conkers off his Tiv for half a day for Sony (we are still famous you know!) has got to be able to find time to ring Alison at the Car Club office on 01952 822126 and join the damn thing.

And after all - the Deputy Editor of Sprint Magazine is an awfully nice chap you know and would hate you to miss out on such a fabulous read! hehe

Cheers - Howard

I was in the same position, is it worth it etc.

Paid up anyway and after the first issue of sprint I thought it was definately worth the money each year.

Only been to one event so far but that was good fun and made some new friends. smile

Even if you don't manage to get to one of of our regional meetings, the financial benefits make it a very good investment of about half a tank of Optimax.

For example. I assume that you get your car serviced at least annually? At what cost? £350/400? We have 8 TVR authorised dealers and 12 independents who offer discounts generally around 10% on annual servicing, so straight away that's your annual membership taken care of before you even look at Sprint. There are insurance companies who offer discounts of up to 15% (so that's probably a second year's annual membership taken care of). Further discounts on airport parking and ferry crossings. And all this before you look at the discounted member rates for events that we open to non-members such as Rockingham.

Like Jeremy, I'd be delighted to talk it through with you over the phone. Drop me an email with your telephone number to public-relations@tvrcc.com and I'll gladly call you back at your convenience.

No doubt about it, the TVRCC is worth joining. I first became member back in 1976 and have never regretted paying the annual dues.
