Bike test booked, too impatient to wait
Discussion
I already have in my mind what bike I want after passing my direct access, but I also want a tool to ride about during the winter, to get a bit more experience, hopefully drop on the floor to save me from doing it with the nice bike.
Obviously a Bandit is a good idea, but what about Super Moto style bikes?
I'm 5 foot 11 and don't think they would be too big. How do they feel compared to a sports bike though, will it be a waste of time or would it give me some valuable riding time all the same?
Dave!

Have you ever ridden a bike before?
I would wait until after you have passed which would then give you a chance to try a range of bikes on test rides. I can never believe how many people buy bikes before they can ride, would anyone buy a car before they passed there test and before they could test drive it?
Different bikes ride in different ways and suit different people and different riding styles. You'll only know what your style is and therefore, what suits after you have ridden a bit. And of course there are some people who do direct access and actually realise they hate bikes and riding!! Hopefully that would never happen but if it did you are stuck with a bike you can't ride and have to flog on.
Not trying to be negative here but a bit realistic. Theres no harm in waiting to try a few...

At 5 foot 11 the super moto should not be to big for you.I started of on a Yamaha DT scramble bike. There pretty good to use through thw winter, can often be brought quite cheap and often survive being dropped. To me they do not feel anything like a sports bike and neither does the bandit. The bandit is quite good but sports bikes to me feel much better when going round bends etc due to the suspension/chasis etc being a lot better than the bandit.Obviously a Bandit is a good idea, but what about Super Moto style bikes?

In terms of would it be a waste of time if you brought a super moto,i would say no it would not be a waste of time and would give you some experience.
Good luck with the test.
