As my 10 year old front springs are "coilbound" (i think thats the term - they're completely squashed all the time/sagged, from age I think) and I have a leaking rear damper, I think I might as well use these problems as an excuse to upgrade the shocks, especially since the price isnt really any different from the standard bilsteins

95% of the cars use will be sunday pleasure drives, the other 5% track days.

So I'm not out to play the big man and get the hardest stiffest setup around, I want something that will bring pleasure to the normal "A" road drive, I don't tend to go on rougher b roads, so it would mostly be a setup designed for fairly smooth "A" roads with the normal odd imperfections here and there. Specifically important will be helping making arse out action in a medium to large roundabout a progressive controllable action that inspires confidence (Obviously this is largely driver skill and control, but good setup plays an important part!).

To this end, I'm weighing up the gaz golds from tvrcarparts.com against the protechs trom trackcarsolutions. I am a tvr car club member, and have spotted some posts mentioning a gaz shock package aimed at tvrcc members? does anyone understand the differences between gaz nickel, gaz gold, and the gaz tvrcc package? and offer any suggestions as to which might prove a good choice for my application?

Nitrons for me but I have not used the other main brands but they have proved excellent on the road and track.

Very happy with my Protechs from TCS :-). Joos built them to suit me. (Fortunately they're okay for the Cerbera too wink)

How many clicks from soft have you got them set to on the front, I have ordered some from Joo, should get them in a couple of weeks and are interested in what settings people have, they are for road use only.

I believe we settled on 6. I actually like a hard ride (I so hope that Fubar isn't reading this thread!) this was a compromise that Joos suggested I try! I haven't changed the setting and it feels great. smile

I can tell you that the Gaz nickel are the entry level steel shocks and the Gaz Gold are composite shocks that are the TVRCC package. That's it really.

If you are the hard man, I have Ian a Middlewich running 600lb springs on the front of his Cerb for road use, thats hard.

AlVal - when you have a few hours spare, read this thread for all you want to know about shocks.

i was in the same boat a couple of weeks ago, wanting a suspension set-up for spirited road use and was split between Gaz and Protech. I went for Gaz Gold in the end, but that's more to do with the fact i couldn't get hold of Joo at Trackcar for the Protechs paperbag Both seem to have their detractors, doubt whether you will go far wrong with either IMHO biggrin
