What the hell was that?

I was at Tesco's in Royston at 4pm ish filling up the Saab, when "something" departed from the roundaout on the A 505 towards Baldock - gave it some welly too!
Now, I never saw the car, but it sounded like the Porsche's I heard at Le Mans...sweet baby Jesus, it was VERY loud (heehah!) and could not possibly have been legal (but very very good!)
Was it anyone on here?
