I was giving a bit of right foot on my way to the NE TVR club meet today and something very scary happend, im sure the throttle got stuck, and it took a couple of blips of the throttle to unstick it. At first thought it may be my carpet or somehing in the footwell catching but closer inspection showed nothing. Is this a common? or any has anyone else had this? scratchchin

Had a slightly sticking throttle on mine a while back and squirted some lubricant down the end of the cable which solved the problem. Oh, that and making sure I use it regularly!! driving

Not sure if that's your problem but for sure make certain you get it fixed - a cerb is difficult enough to handle without a stuck throttle!!

Others on here have had to replace the cable, and I have heard of things getting in the way of the throttle due to things not being aligned in that area (yep, rubbish description from me!!).

Cheers

I had this. Sometimes the cable can fray where it enters its shroud above the accel pedal. Thats a prelude to it snapping there. It seems to happen because the bar that the pedal hinges on bends a little and the cable is not then aligned correctly.

So check that, and check the end in the engine bay.

Also check the return springs at the back end of the throttle bodies, and if you've a separate external throttle spring check that. If you havn't got one, get one!

And you should squirt a load of WD40 up the cable from the engine bay end, using the red straw that comes with the WD.

Although I don't think I've ever got a can home from the shop with the straw still attached, until they introduced that clever new captive squirty arrangement.

But I digress!
